This is Ascari's answer to the Ferrari Enzo FXX and Maserati MC12 - the A10.

And the Banbury firm claims it's the world's fastest roadgoing production car around a racetrack.

The A10 has 625bhp on tap but because of carbon fibre bodywork, it weighs around 1200kg. That results in a 0-60mph time of 2.8secs, with 100mph reachable in six seconds.

The car clearly shares DNA with the regular KZ1 Ascari, but it does feature new body panels, a reworked version of the current engine, revised suspension and new brakes. The option list includes remote central locking, electric windows, climate control and an alarm system - although presumably these add a few precious kilos to the car's dry weight.

Only 10 A10s will be built, each costing £350,000. That sounds steep, but it's a third of the FXX's £1m-plus pricetag...

It's quite a nice looking car too, unlike the FXX, and perfectly road legal. Though I have doubts over Ascaris claim that it's the fastest roadgoing production car around a track.

Since we cannot see them, I have updated my 1st post with a shot, which I have uploaded to imageshack.

Hmm, they show up fine on my pc, even in your quote. No bother though, the first ones the same as the one you've put in your first post.

I've just had a more look into the engine specs, and it has a S62 BMW M5 V8 w/Dry Sump Lubrication, with the top speed being reported as:

220 mph

i live 13 miles from banbury :D

one day, ill fine their base

Woah! I thought the BMW M5 had a V10 engine

Or was the previous M5, or was there never a V10 BMW?
The current M5 has a V10 the previous ones had V8's this is from the last M5 right before the current one.

It's....a....another supercar.

tough for me to get excited about this one, boys.

i knew about this car ages ago, just had no info on it

Yeah, that gumpert is pretty savage. I have little interest in it, probably because it is from a brand I know little of and it is built for track, which means no luxuries, which I like.

That is a very cool looking car however. I'd love to see this sometime

Indeed, its only slightly faster than an Enzo in terms of 1-100mph acceleration. They are being technical by using the word "production", even though this car is probably far from being civilised and wont be produced at a high rate. Its definately not the fastest roadgoing car ever though, Leblanc Mirabeau would out run it.

thats practically a le mans race car.

I love Ascari, and this doesn't change anything. Too bad they don't sell a lot in the states.:ouch:

They don't sell a lot anywhere.

I like it. Ascari always did build a nice-looking obscure-supercar-that-almost-no-one-has-ever-heard-of. That, and they use BMW engines, so I sorta have to like them. :p

Honestly, though, the Apollo ranks higher on the badassometer.

Who! Nice to merge onto a topic with less than three pages of 120 post...a bit crowded here.

This looks like quite the track performer. Only 10 to be produced? My source says 50, but I could be wrong.

£350,000 is a bit uncomfortable for me; is this in the Zonda's range? Then again, this is a different kind-of supercar.

Certainly the KZ1 is a fine car in amongst the exotics of the world, comparable (if not brilliant) when in the company of the Modena, 911 Turbo, Corvette Z06, and Viper SRT-10 Coupe. Problem is that the base model's price crowds in on Saleen S7/Pagani Zonda territory.

With enough tire, chassis development, and horsepower, you can sling most anything around a road course at breakneck speeds. I have no doubt that the Ascari fellows employed some of their LMP900 expertise to this car, but I'm willing to bet that "fastest on a road course" (if even remotely able to be proven) is enough of a sales pitch to claim status away from the Italian twins.

Why is it that no one seems to know about the top supercar makers? :grumpy:

Ascari, Farboud, Mosler, etc.

The only reason most of them know of Lambo or Ferrari is NFS (:yuck:)

Hmmm, why would people know Ferrari over Ascari, Farbound, or Mosler?

Maybe it's 60+ years of championship winning sports and formula cars coupled with a history of exclusive road cars catering to royalty and celebrities with a combination of beauty and power?

Or maybe people just like little horsies, I don't know.
