Ever wanted to ask the designers and engineers of a particular car a question? Or maybe the marketing execs and the bean counters?

Post your question here, and, if you know the answer, post a reply...

To the designer of the Reliant Scimitar SS1 1600 (Michelotti):

This was supposed to be a fresh start for a struggling company: why did you spoil a nice car by making it so ugly?

To the designer of the Citroen Pluriel, why did you design a car that makes it's drivers look gay?

This one is on the C4, but it has less to do with the exterior, more with the interior...

To the particular interior designer/idea guru: Why the hell would you want to have a fixed sterring wheel center with the outside wheel independant of that? It not only looks stupid when in use, but it also adds little to the driving expirience. Maybe its because I'm a "Stupid American," but I see little functionality with the idea...

^Ugly! :yuck:

To: the Execs at Saab.

Why not build the perfect bachelor car? It would be fast, stylish, have three doors, 4 seats, and be big enough to move flat/appartment/digs with.

(They've never replaced this car! Why not? It's criminal...)

@YSSman: It's a Citroen thing: they have to do wacky interiors that give no real benefit. In the past they've done 'moving drum' speedo's (GS), electronic dash (before they were fashionable or even cheap, BX), single spoke steering wheels (pretty much everything up to ZX), etc, etc...

...Well, I've really just gotten Citroen on my map. Obviously I've herd of the cars from Gran Turismo, etc. But after watching Top Gear a coupe of times, seeing a few more Citroens, although they are really strange, I do like them.

Well I've had a couple, and they have a certain weird logic to them. It certainaly makes them individual, but sometimes you just wish they'd be, well, normal...

But the world is a better place with Citroens in it, I reckon. :)

How in the world did god let a man exist with such awesome talent as yours?

They don't sell, that's why. Platform sharing has cut any good ideas in an effort to salvage profits.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread at this time. I will be back.

Funny -- my friend's brother's SC300 had that exact same headlight-fogging problem.

My contribution:

Way to go -- you just emasculated a world icon. Are women really the primary market for Mustangs, or were you just trying to lure more of them in, knowing fully that your devoted male fans would buy the car anyway...?

Fixed centre hub steering has its advantages..

the airbag will always be deployed correctly in an event of crash for example.

Yep, that's exactly the reason why they did it. It also disincentivises people driving the car using the steering boss, rather than the wheel. Which is dangerous in terms of reduced control, and immediate wrist breakage in the event of an accident.

And the Citroen Pluriel is a great idea: they get to sell basically the same car for more money. And when do you ever see them in any configuration other than a standard C3? I've never seen one with the roof off.

Gandini, how did you acquire such a taste for excellence?
EDIT: The pic doesn't work, so here's a better one.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there... A convertable GT is a great idea, something that should have happened to begin with.

It can happen, if you own a GT and have the money that is.

I think it looks great, even better than the base GT.

It was one of those cars where being inside was preferable.

Not unless you had dark, dark tinted windows, and were exiting/entering the vehicle in a place where no one would see you.
