Asking PD for the possibility to model new cars by yourself and add them in the game?

Hi,
I'm wondering if there will be (in the future) the possibility to model new cars by yourself and add in the game, submitting them to PD (for a validity check) and then re-downloading the accepted/selected ones via PSN.

Will be great if PD could release an import/export software and the base rules (procedures, max number of poligons, quality of textures, right way of rigging) we have to follow to do this...

I know it's really hard, but for sure there will be a lot of GT5 fans skilled enough to pack something good... (maybe better than the STD cars :p)

What do you think about it? :scared:

I know for a fact there'll be some people out there with the skill, time and dedication to add in cars of premium quality, of course it'll take them time but if there's a certain car they'd like then they would do it.

A few problems I can see:

1) The vast majority of the cars submitted to PD would be well under the quality level they'd be willing to accept.
2) Licensing problems; there's a reason Porsche aren't included in this game.
3) Would each car have to go through some kind of testing for glitches? And if so who would do that testing?

Would be an amazing idea if possible but I just can't see it happening myself :(.

I'm a geek, not only do I like GT5 I also fly collective pitch RC helis.

Taking the first baby steps to fly CP RC helis can be an expensive learning curve due the difficulty and the potential for crash damage (when you are spinning carbon fibre blades at 2.5k+ any impact with mother Earth is likely to cost you money).

Because of this there are a couple of simulators on the market so you can fly and crash for free.

Of the two main sims, one allows user created models and the other only releases models created by the sim team. The former is great fun and is initially more engaging but the user created models are generally inaccurate in terms of the key aspect, flight dynamics. The latter has less choice but more accurately simulates real CP RC heli flight.

I like GT5 because I can [within the limitations of the PS3 and domestic computing hardware in general] get a glimpse of the real world handling and performance of cars I will never have a chance to own and drive myself. For this reason alone I would prefer that user created models aren't high on the PD 'to do' list.

You're right, licensing is a big problem, but maybe users could just upgrade the standard cars we've in the game to premium or edit other visual racing mods/tuning parts/liveries for both standard and premium cars (PD has already obtained the license for them before).

I know it's just a dream, but a sweet dream.. :(

Begin Sarcasm "They (PD) want their Skylines as the car with the most models in the game, so no, this doesn't work." End Sarcasm

This is just an idea but its almost impossible to execute. How would you model the car without violating a licensing rule? There's definitely a legal problem there. In addition, you would have to make it a standard because there's no way you will have the budget to accurately crash said car 40 to 50 times to model the damage accurately.

SuperCar Street Challenge. you design your own car (sorta) and you race it against other real supercars. this idea already exists, and the people who say it can't are just communist.
