I started playing last night. It is very enjoyable so far. I think the graphics are okay they don't look as good as Uncharted 2 or MGS4.

I'm still intrigued with AC2 and I'm not sure if I will even be able to buy it let alone if I will choose it over other titles. Also worth noting the two you compared it to are rather more linear so although Uncharted and MGS may look better, the open world nature of AC2 may balance that out to some extent.

I had not thought about it like that. It is very good game and if you get the opportunity you try it out. It's much better than AC1. This is from a person who hated AC1.

I have 1 question remaining with this game. Ok, so you've done all the main missions and objectives, got most/all the items and collectables, what is left to do? In other words, what will keep you coming back once you've essentially 'beat' the game? Are there recurring mini-missions to attempt or something?

They have courier missions, races and assasination contracts, and beat ups you can do.

Wasn't going to get this game until I found it on sale for $29.99 CAN (secret 1 day sale at EB, sweet!). Don't get to play it until tomorrow though, but for $30 it shouldn't dissappoint. 👍

Unless its anything like TH:PG, which even for $15 was a total rip off. :grumpy:

What's TH:PG?

Dragonistic have you taken the plunge and got ACII? If so how do you like it so far?

I got it for Christmas, and I've just started playing. It seems good, but i'm not going to judge yet because I haven't "played" yet. Very minor spoiler ahead, and i'm not going to bother hiding it. I'm only at the part where you just leave the facility and go in the trunk of the car, and get to the Assassin's hideout.

I think i'll probably hold on to it for a while, then trade in Assassin's Creed II, Call of Duty: World at War, Rainbow Six Vegas 1, and probably Tiger Woods '09. Might trade in Battlefield: Bad Company as well. I want to get Uncharted 2, and BF: BC2 when it comes out.

What an great game this is, have not played one though.

Really like the how the story is told, seems very good so far. Also the the remarks to today world are nice... (from carnaval to reality tv)
Solid gameplay and quite a lot of different things to do.
Graphics not an new standard but its okay but the city's are so full of live.
It so addictive, already on an absurd (for me) 27 hours :/ and still not done ;)

Only things that they could (maybe should) have not done were searching feathers ... and beat up mission ... (same basic normal story)

Almost my GameOfTheYear but that goes to Uncharted 2.

I did indeed, loving it so far, just as everyone said all the major issues are gone and it's lovely to see all these things to do between mission. Like when you see a thief to chase randomly or all these side missions to do like the races.

Loving it so far, about to get some more now.

I like those random thieves. I haven't quite caught one yet. I have been trying to do it without killing the the poor guys.

Okay thanks. Back to ACII has anybody caught those random thieves? I've gotten close enough to tackle them but when I hit the button to tackle I kinda bounce off them instead of tackling them.

i've caught like 2 of them, it seems the further in the game you get, the faster/better they are at running as i've caught a few in the beginning, but later in the game they are HARD to catch and if you don't pounce on them (no weapon equiped, locked on Left trigger and B button i think it is) it's hard to catch them as they push you off ledges etc, and also take some money when they do.

I finished the game this weekend and really enjoyed it. The combat is MUCH improved over the previous one and the story plays out well. I think the only thing left for me to do is collect a bunch of feathers and find those symbols/puzzles for "The TRUTH". I enjoyed the first AC1 although repetative, the 2nd one brings a lot more to the table. :)👍

When you finally get the last/best set of armor and you get the fighting mechanics down, you're almost invincible. MUAHAHAHAHA....although the brutes can be tricky.

I found with the brutes it's best not to battle with weapons, just use your hands, counter/disarm them and then finish them off. :sly:

[played on xbox360]

Thanks for the info about the thieves. As far the btutes are concerned I like to use a smoke bomb then use the hidden dagger to take them out. No fuss no muss. I will have to try your method though.

The thiefs are pretty easy to catch, I've caught loads now. Although you don't want to go after the marked thiefs on the map, they are the lower class thiefs and can only steal 500 florins, the upper class thiefs (they wear a red cloak) steal up to 1500 florins but aren't marked on the map.

The smoke bombs are definitely a useful item, especially in group fights (and yes multiple brutes at once). I don't know if i didn't find it but i wish there was an upgraded pouch for the smoke bombs. All i have to say is later in the game do NOT be afraid to spend money on supplies as you usually have WAY more than you actually need. ( I haven't bought any of the art/paintings) so thats probably where all that excess money goes to.

Those red thieves, aren't thieves. They are Borgia Couriers, hence the large some of money and notoriety increase. As for catching them, if all else fails chuck a knife at them, you seem to get the cash instantly when you throwing knife a thief (unsure about the couriers) although I rarely have to resort to that as although they're fast on the flats, I'm better at finding the faster routes on the rooftops.

All I need to do is feathers and glyphs then I have everything collected for the villa. Side missions to do after that and a couple of random trophies. Getting the 10 kills without being hit can be a real pain but if you use smoke bombs, then just hidden knife them, then smoke again BEFORE the last one wears off, you'll be fine. They won't be able to run away then and you won't have to really fight.

I'll have to try to chuck knives at the thieves:tup:

Speaking of thieves, about 10 minutes ago, whilst on the hunt for the feathers, of which I now need 22 more, I was busy looking up high from the ground to see if I could spot any. Bang, I hit the floor dead standing, moving my camera down I initially thought a guard had pushed me, but no it was one of those damn thieves! I'd never actually been robbed before, only ever randomly encounter thieves who had robbed someone else. "The swine!" I thought to myself, already giving him a good 50 metres on me in my confusion I gave chase. I caught up pretty rapidly, crossing the rooftops perfectly and much better line then the thief took. So how much had he took? I picked up over 12,100F from him when I landed the tackle! Which is when i glanced at my cash, he must have taken all of that from me as I was only a fraction better off then before.

Beware rich assassins, they must take 5% of the money you carry I think if they rob you personally, I had just under 240,000 when he robbed me, and I got 12,000 which would have included his money, a whole 20 minutes of cash... not that it matters. Moneys money though, and more importantly it's MY money.

After a while, racking up money is kind of pointless. You run out of stuff to spend it on. I guess you could stand on a roof and throw a bunch at the peasants below .

Ah, my apologies. I haven't played the game in a little while so I probably just got confused.

I've been playing this game for a while, and it's absolutely phenomenal. Ubisoft basically kept the great things about AC1 (the free running controls and stuff), and fixed the problems (go to new town, go to the hideout, beat somebody up, eavesdrop, assassinate, lather, rinse, repeat.). I also like how you don't seem to get pulled out of the Animus so much as the first, all though i'm not too far in the game, so i dunno if that will change.

i am at sequence 14 now and have been pulles out only about 3 times, still would be better if it did not do that at all as it does rip you out of the historic feeling

^^ answer above

I didn't mind so much as they were more interesting this time around, IIRC 2 times you actually do something and the other was very very short. Overall I was very sucked in this time around even up until the games shocking ending revalations even though, as with the first, they didn't inkeep with much of what had gone before in this game. It was a good ending mission, and I thought the ending scenes in the animus although possibly taking it to far were good enough overall.

Reply to the above post and some talk of the games end, no specifics but still.
