He gives his car setting before starting the lap, have you tried those?
No, I'm not sure the game is accurate enough that real world good settings will be good in the game, and also I really couldn't be bothered messing about with all that. But if dialling down the stability and traction doesn't get me past his time, maybe I'll try that.

Oh ok, so based on that you too think that this game is turning into a ”cookie-cutter GT3-at-Spa sludge?”
Adding GT3 cars isn't a problem, IMO it's that a lack of career mode/objectives will naturally make online the only thing to do. Hotlapping can get boring after a while, which is probably why Shuto servers in AC are so popular.

Anecdotally, I only see people driving road cars in AC on these types of servers:
  • Drift
  • Cruise
  • SRP
  • Nordschleife
The other populated servers in my region tend to be:
  • GT3's at Spa
  • GT3's at Monza
  • MX5's at Laguna Seca
Unfortunately, I think Evo will be a hard sell to most people. Better physics and graphics alone might not be enough to convince people to buy a new game, when the older one covers 90% of their needs.

I’ll admit that if free-roam is scrapped, it will be a hard sell indeed. If it makes it to the game however, and turns out to be as, or close to as big as promised, it will be enough to keep me occupied for a looong time, considering how many hours I’ve spent just driving around the SRP map.

Only thing missing for hotlapping in EVO is a leaderboard for single player.
The ability to load best lap ghost would be great too

Has anyone here managed to beat his time? I did a couple of laps, and unfortunately ran out of fuel just before the end of the 2nd lap, but I reckon it would have been around 5 secs slower than Misha. I think I had traction and stability set too high, as the car was a bit understeery, so I'll have another go with those turned down a bit some time.
I did a 6:54 yesterday without touching the car. No DRS either because I didn't have the button mapped. I'm going to make some adjustments and try again later today. The car as-is, handles really well. I spent most of my weekend racing on Paul Ricard in the 488 EVO. The VR in this game is just insanely good.

I did 6:57, probably still had the traction and stability a bit high, what did you have them set to? I'm using a controller which in ACC was much slower for me than using a wheel, like 3 seconds for a lap of Spa, don't know how a wheel would compare for AC EVO as I've long since dismantled my wheel setup. I also didn't use DRS.

Edit: Okay, tried TC 1 ESC 1 which is what Misha used. That definitely gets rid of the horrible on-throttle understeer it has with higher TC. Done 6:56 now, 6:55 or better is basically just a matter of completing a lap without messing it up somewhere.

The game is really incredibly cheap for what it is. I know some people want an economy, but just the graphics, sound, physics, range of superb track models and car models (which model the cars in great detail including controlling modes specifc to some cars) are well worth it to me. Even if it had no freeroam, I'd think it's great value for £26, though I hope they do eventually deliver freeroam, and if they do, the game will go from great value to incredible value.

I had TC set to 1. Tried 0 at first but struggled. I will try the Misha settings next time I play the game. He mentions in the video that the car needs more negative camber. I will probably adjust that as well. My 6:54 was a focused but conservative lap. I could probably knock it down a few seconds but it would take longer than I have patience for on a track this large.

I used the Misha settings and the car was definitely faster. I also adjusted all of the camber to -2.8. Managed to run a 6:50.7. This was enabling DRS everywhere I could to gain some additional speed.

Hi everyone, I'm new here.

I'm usually only on AC.I bought AC Evo as soon as it came out, but I couldn't play it on my old PC. Now I've put in the first six hours setting it up and testing it. I'm using VR with a Samsung monitor and I'm blown away by the graphics. I'm still not entirely convinced about the driving feel...A question for everyone: I have the Thrustmaster TH8 and I've set it up correctly. Everything works fine for the first half lap, then it won't shift gears anymore. I've also turned off automatic rev-matching, but that didn't help. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Another question: Where do you set which shifter a car uses? I still have the sequential shifter and would like to use it with the F40 LM, for example!

I'd appreciate an answer from Evo experts!

Have you tried to map the shifter in the settings? I know it forces me to use my H pattern on manual cars, so I don't know if there's an override for it. As far as the car not shifting half way through the track. Are you sure the cars transmission isn't damaged? Does the game simulate transmission damage? I tend to drive GT3 cars so it's kind of diffucult to miss shift those lol. I would go into your settings before the race and shift gears to confirm they are working. After they stop working, go back into the settings and make sure everything is still ok. Unfortunately, that's all the advice I have to give. Hopefully it's gets sorted out.

Edit: Also, is your shifter plugged into the wheel base or the PC?

No issue with gears on Fanatec, could be related to Thrustmaster.
ACE, like AC, will use the proper gear method for each car, manual when manual, sequential when sequential.
If you do not attribute gears to a manual gear shifter in control setting, then the game will only shift sequential.

Thanks for your message.
The switch is plugged directly into USB 3.0 on the PC and works perfectly in AC mode. So that can't be the problem.
After the gears fail, no error message is displayed in the vehicle.
Yesterday I also noticed that the problem mainly occurs with the F40. The Mazda MX-5 works with the switch.

Very strange indeed...

Thanks for letting me know.
I'd really like to use the H-shifter. It's more authentic. But if it continues to cause problems, I'll delete it and try driving with the sequential shifter. Paddle shifters are a pain in the F40...

AI summary from a reddit comment:

In this video, Marco Massarutto, co-founder of Kunos Simulazioni, discusses the decision to remove the planned career mode from Assetto Corsa EVO (0:07-0:10). He explains that the original ambitious vision for a massive, interconnected career mode with an in-game economy (3:25) was taking focus and resources away from the core pillars of Assetto Corsa, such as simulation and openness (3:50).

Key points from the discussion:

  • Reasons for Career Mode Removal (1:36-5:32): The economy-based career mode would have led to too many compromises, limited modding, extended development time, and potential restrictions on multiplayer and free roam. The team chose to protect the DNA of Assetto Corsa, focusing on uncompromised simulation and openness.
  • Single-Player Content (6:35-7:55): Despite the removal of career mode, single-player content will still be a significant part of EVO. This includes sim-racing-oriented game modes and an expanded free roam with points of interest, special courses, a navigation system, interactive locations (like gas stations and car dealerships), and AI traffic.
  • Free Roam Priority (9:50-12:19): The development of free roam was previously hindered by game economy systems. Removing these constraints has allowed the team to accelerate free roam development, which is now a major priority.
  • Upcoming Content (1.0 Version) (19:15-21:42): The 1.0 version of EVO will feature 100 unique cars in various configurations, the free roam map, and at least 20 officially licensed, laser-scanned circuits. A significant portion of these tracks (25%) will be located in the United States, including Sebring. The next update (0.6.6) will be more racing-oriented, with more racing cars.
  • Modding Improvements (37:10-41:55): The new modding tools for EVO are significantly more powerful than those for AC1. The team hopes to release their terrain editor, which can generate meshes from lidar data, offering infinite possibilities for detailed and expansive modded tracks. The new tools will also allow for better car tuning and customization.
  • Team and Industry Challenges (25:28-30:00): The Kunos team has grown from 6 to nearly 40 people, leading to significantly higher costs. Licensing fees for cars and tracks have increased up to five times compared to AC1. The sim racing industry faces challenges due to high technological benchmarks, increased competition, and users dedicating less time to single products.
  • Commitment and Passion (46:06-50:05): Marco Massarutto emphasizes the team's deep passion and commitment to sim racing, despite frustrations and challenges. He states that Assetto Corsa EVO would not exist without the early access model and the continuous support and trust of the community, which he believes is crucial for EVO's success.

One word that is dear to me and that I did not see is "optimization".
As, in the state it is, even with a RTX4070ti super, as I do not play in pancake, the VR is not useless, but it is not really playable either.
As I have a ton of fun in AC with fantastic VR graphics at stellar performance, it is not bothering me, but it kills any enthusiasm I had for Evo.
