Assigning and tuning the Thrustmaster T-GT wheel

It appears that the four new rotary dials on the Thrustmaster T-GT wheel can not be randomly assigned within the Gran Turismo game. It looks like three on them are dedicated to Brake Bias, Traction Control, and Fuel Map. Since those three features have five graduated steps, do you think the 12 position rotaries may be used for something in the future? Does anyone know what the lower right "yellow" rotary does? Also, is there any adjustment for the new T-DBF feature. It is very subtle and can barely be felt at all. It might be my imagination, but it does seem a little stringer only when "In car" view is selected. Has anyone else discovered this?

The rotaries are 12 position just so you don't have to set it to the correct position everytime you restart the game to match your last settings, It's just easier to make it free rotating. Doesn't mean the game has to have 12 point adjustments.

The yellow one is used to change torque split in some 4WD cars (try a rally car and you'll see). Otherwise you can press the yellow button to cycle between the screens too.

T-DFB is not adjustable. If you think it's weak, I think it's too strong and just muddles up the important FFB actually. Go to controller settings in Options and set Vibration to Off (this turns off the T-DFB). Then you'll notice that the effect is very much adequate and not "weak". It doesn't have any difference what view you use, it's all just placebo effect in your mind.

Thanks for the explaination. Makes perfect sense to me. I tried the 4WD car, and sure enough, the yellow dial does exactly what you said. As far as the T-DFB, I still think it is weak. It maybe because I normally race with the larger diameter Sparco R-383 wheel. More leverage on a larger wheel, weakens the force effects. I have the "Buttkicker" under my seat and it vibrates everything so much, it makes it hard to feel anything so subtle. Thanks agsin for the response.

Thanks for the explanation. It now makes perfect sense to me. I tried a 4WD car and the yellow dial does exactly what you said. As far as the T-DFB, I still think it is too weak, although I do most of the racing with the larger diameter Sparco R-383 wheel. The larger diameter with more leverage, weakens the force you feel. I have a Buttkicker under my seat that vibrates everything so much, I barely feel anything that subtle in the wheel. Thanks again for the response.

@LeGeNd-1
Thanks for the tip, the T-DFB is too much for me as well. I'll give off a go. It would have been nice if it were adjustable.

Maybe the Sparco's larger diameter giving less feedback is a solution for me.

@JohnMartin
How do you like the larger Sparco wheel?
I'm now considering one.

The Sparco is my best wheel. The only downside is that there is no good way to label the buttons. I noticed that Fanatec CSL Elite wheel comes with some interchangeable button caps with typical automotive symbols for most features. What are the odds that those caps would fit the buttons on the Sparco? I going to try and order some and see.

If you have a larger diameter wheel that explains the lesser forces. It's really nothing special IMO, if you already have a buttkicker it does the job better. I just turned it off because I feel it's artificial, and doesn't really provide me with any extra information to drive faster.

Thanks for the info John. The button arrangement is a bit spread out. Good luck with the fanatec buttons hope they fit and work out well for you.

Before you order them, let's see if I can help you out. If you have a caliper, measure your buttons and I'll measure the one's on my wheel and at least you will know if they will fit. I would hate to see you order something that you can't use.

The button layout on the Sparco wheel ends up working fairly well. I use the "X" button, which is yellow, down on the lower right to scroll through the Multifunction display, (Timing, Brake Bias, Traction control, Fuel Map, diff split, radar, etc. , then I use the top right buttons, which are R2 (Orange) and the circle button (Black) to step up or down respectively through each feature. I usually drive with traction control always showing except in endurance races, then I keep fuel map up because I change it the most during the race. Those three buttons can do what all four rotary dials do. I use the upper right side button, "L2" for headlights and flashing, the lower left yellow "Square" button for "Reverse", and the lower left white button for rear view, although the 4-way direction button can also show look left, look right, look back, but it is fairly delicate and I hate to use it during the races. The bottom left orange is dedicated to "Share" and the bottom right orange is dedicated to "Pause". The middle button in the lower right is dedicated to "Start" or "PlayStation". I use L3 on the right side of the servo motor for "change view" and the R3 for Ghost. They work out pretty good and are within a "thumbs" reach. I try to keep similar functionality for Project Cars 2 and Assetto Corsa. I have the F1 wheel for 2017 F1. It has more than enough buttons with similar rotaries to the T-GT wheel.

A cap with an inside diameter of 3/8" would work.

Perfect! Everything I need to know. Thanks very much for that info.

Well, 3/8 inch is .375. Do you have the actual Fanatec caps, and are they rubber? Do you think they would stretch 2/100ths of an inch? .375 vs .357 My main goal is to find a cap with a "+" sign or Up arrow, "-" sign or down arrow, headlight symbol, wiper symbol ( for Project Cars 2 and hopefully for GT Sport in the future, cross my fingers), a "P" for pause, an "S" for select, and a "R" for reverse.

I do have the wheel and caps.

I'm afraid you won't be able to do what you want with the button caps. First of all, they are a very hard plastic with no give at all. Secondly, they are replacements for the buttons on the wheel and not covers. I have attached a video demonstrating this.

I don't know where you live, but you could source some screw covers and stencil them the way you want, from Lowes, Home Depot or Walmart if you are stateside . I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Keith.
