Ugh. As an Aston fan, this really bothers me. I want to ignore it, but a company like Aston should not have these problems. Period.

Sadly, the Chinese can make excellent products (Apple, anyone?) but this is an instance of Chinese cost cutting. I don't blame the Chinese, after all, it's a huge country, but I do blame whoever was in charge of these parts.

I live in China so I read the news, apparently the Shenzhen company AM pointed to only produced the moldings for the parts, they are not responsible for the material and they do not have any business with the firms that supply the materials to AM for manufactures. And no AM sold in Shenzhen is the affected model.

It is a shame for AM since they probably produced 60,000 cars for over 100 years and now they have to recall so many, and based on how chinese people react to quality issues, this may gonna hurt for AM.

This is so damaging to Aston Martin's image.

In general, they're often lauded for the craftsmanship in their cars and their charismatic looks. They're not really the leader in terms of performance, so with this disaster, maybe some people will feel there's no incentive anymore in buying an Aston Martin over a Porsche or a Ferrari at a certain price.

It's a shame the press have latched on to the 'Chinese' bit of this story, it could have been a dodgy part made anywhere, even in the UK and they shouldn't associate the fact this has happened with where the part has come from.

No, it is not a shame.

It is about time the rampant corruption, dishonesty and extremely poor workmanship and quality of chinese produced products get into the news.

The only reason Apple products are decent is the close and EXPENSIVE quality control eye they keep on the production.

When the chinese companies involved in any production process are left to their own devices they always use substandard materials.

I've seen enough Mazda2 steering coloumn greases, Subaru Forester Puddle Light fixes and Toyota_____(insert all models here) recalls on my shift.

What do you mean. It isn't as if quality control for parts used in the face of rampant cost cutting is something every factory in the world needs to keep an eye on. That's why American cars from the 1990s are so highly regarded on the world stage.
