Here we go, time to leave Brands Hatch and this is my result:

Despite a prolongation I had not much time for driving and tuning and could not reach my best. I love the track and might return to work with your replays.

Round 4 will be extralong (because of holiday) and a different experience as the track Barcelona National has less flow and might be hated...

If you did participate in round 3 I kindly ask you to publish the foto of your results here today. Not sure if I have time to publish the lap times today.

Wanted to post but didn't make it in time since have no connection at home.

I did share 2 replays yesterday anyway.

TVR Tuscan Speed 6 - 1.29.8xx
Tried to leave it at normal weight and it should have none to minor ballast (1100/1175 Kg).

Lamborghini Gallardo - 1.28.1xx
Went straight for power out of the box, this has 617~hp and weights a lot with 175 Kg of ballast.

Still not liking the track despite the laps! 🤣

Buon giorno,
if possible I would be glad to receive that pic later. It is just for the record, I can look for your lap time in the vids.

@bliprunner : May I ask you, too, to share a pic? The lap time is obvious in your vid already.

Thank you all, this evening I should be able to finish round 3. (@911RSR : miss you?!)

I did a screenshot of my laptime yesterday, but forgot about the setup pics and to share the lap.🤦‍♂️
I'll try to catch up this evening.
Big sorry!
Although it's realy disappointing, these are the times (please ignore the Aston, i couldn't find a driveable setup for this):

Hej,
you are welcome. I was afraid that we lost you somewhere in real life. Round 4 starts tonight...
Greetings!

This is the end of round 3 and I am happy that there are faster guys than me here to keep @rheinaoi busy... Nonetheless did he manage to score - again - the fastest lap time in all three drive trains! Congrats to that impressive result!

I am still surprised that McLaren was not a serious contender for the Vantage. Forcing us to use british FR-cars has been a try and didn't add more fun to me. It meant more testing and tuning and will not be repeated for next round. Maybe I will come back to the idea of a certain period one day. We will see...

So, right now round 4 of ATAQ starts at "Barcelona National" and will -because of some holiday- end at 22th of september. There are no further restrictions so you can directly come over with your Vantage (or Porsche @911RSR ) to Spain. In contrast to "Road Atlanta" and "Brands Hatch" has this track less flow and is more like "Tsukuba" in some way. I hope you will enjoy it!

Great set of times mate. Brands Hatch is always a pleasure to race at. And also seeing the audience and trees/scenery is exciting to see while running hot laps. Take your time on the laps of the next tracks. No need to rush. Health, family and work is more important in this world. Take care and enjoy the rest of your evening. Just relax and take it smoothly.

Guten Morgen!

There it is the screen with lap times.

1000042247.webp
1000042248.webp
1000042249.webp

Tried to maintain this car low weight, doesn't go that fast tho.
Tuning got rid of most oversteer, it is more stable but still suffer in low speed corners.
Brakes were ok and it didn't float around too much in high speed corners.

1000042250.webp
1000042253.webp
1000042252.webp

For this I just went with something already powerful and with minor mods. Had to add ballast straight away and brake balance might be be +2, I do mostly change that during the laps.
Anyway this car had massive oversteer problems while braking strong, even in a straight line! 🤣
So I did put more emphasis on the rear to get some stability... At least now you feel almost safe braking in a straight line without being sent into the void.

Congrats @rheinaoi - nice times. I watched my lap again today and maybe it was too safe...

I have a weird issue with the TT scoreboard, sometimes my laps don't get added (even when I do multiple laps and none are invalidated) and also some of the times on my scoreboard don't disappear when deleted. Maybe someone else has experienced this?

Will have to test the Vantage at Barca...

To be sure to get the lap time registered you have to end the session and start a new one after saving one lap. It saves only one best lap in a session. Why some cannot be deleted is something I would love to understand, too...

I have similar leaderboard issues. If I have more than three times set by a particular car, I can only delete two at a time before having to back out of the event entirely.

The game should put a new time on the leaderboard every time you press exit from the pause menu. If that's not happening, then the game is watching for your fastest lap of the overall session and logging only that (so you can save the fastest lap replay).

Ooh, as for the cars to test, try the 991 GT3. It was an absolute monster in Round 2.

If you lean more toward FR drivetrains, the new Ferrari 812 Superfast will likely be strong because of the 4 Wheel Steering, and having to detune it will probably alleviate its corner exit traction issues. It also has silly, silly amounts of downforce (though that may not be a factor this round).

May the Titans have mercy on us if that car clicks with you

Had a first test yesterday at Barcelona. I've completly forgotten that "National" is that short layout of the track. I thought it's the one without that anoying chicane at the end.

I've driven that layout only once before, so turn 1 and the transition to turn 2 is still in the "how do i make it fast"-stage. 🤪

But, except for that stupid chicane, i like that layout. And my GT3RS fit's pretty well to that tight and twisty track. 😁
My best time was a 1:12,816. I don't know how much i can improve, but i don't excpect to be under 1:12.

Several rounds of testing done. The best I could manage was a 1:12.1 in the Gallardo. So, we're going into the 1:11s soon.

I have no idea what to do about turn one. Also, I'm with @911RSR on the silly chicane. The two turns before the silly chicane are also... odd, and have hard-to-find brake markers. The penalties at said silly chicane were especially brutal. Those stewards slapped me running wide over the green stuff in the high speed corners as I do the final turn at Tsukuba.

But weirdly, you can overshoot the braking point into turn 1 by a football field, end up deep in the green stuff, point the car and dump the throttle and get back into the lap. The super strict stewards don't care. Is doing that actually fast? Ehhhhhh, it's quicker than it should be:lol:

DO LIGHT CARS HAVE A CHANCE NOW?
Maybe. Previous builds in the 1330kg range are still the sweet spot for power. But interestingly, the light cars are not totally left in the dust. For example the two Alpine A110s below have radically different setups, but they are basically the same in pace. Though sadly, they are both slow in my hands.

Alpine A110 '17 - 1:14.24
422hp / 2432lbs [1104kg]

Alpine A110 '17 - V6 Swap - 1:14.25
515hp / 2976lbs [1350kg]

FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CLASS
Still super strong. Maybe I should just hide here for the rest of this round  Watch out for the Gallardo with its nutty aero. META potential.

Lamborghini Gallardo - 1:12.1
513hp / 2976lbs [1350kg]
It ran this lap with zero tweaks to the racing suspension. That made me feel useless as a tuner

Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce - 1:12.2
528hp / 3058lbs [1387kg]

Lamborghini Huracan - 1:12.9
501hp / 2886lbs [1309kg]
The handling is fine, but the lap times were disappointing. No rear diffuser = big disadvantage.

REAR WHEEL DRIVE CLASS TESTING
The quest for speed in the RWD class has been a struggle outside of the known meta cars.

Jaaaag XJ220 V12 Swap - 1:13.2
478hp / 2800lbs [1300kg]

Ferrari F40 - 1:13.4
479hp / 2800lbs [1300kg]

Toyota MR2 - V8 Swap - 1:13.5
515hp / 2976lbs [1350kg]

De Tomaso Pantera - 1:15.3
498hp / 2881lbs [1306kg]

Though I am grumpy that I haven't gotten any of these cars into the 1:12s, I am happy that a V12 XJ220, and V8 MR2 and basically an F40LM are fighting each other on the leaderboard.

Holy moly! If there was any doubt that you are an alien, not anymore! All you obviously do is driving. No sleep, no eating or all the other things us humans have to deal with, just driving and driving ... 😁

Rest and proper nutrition do help with consistency. Please ignore how much driving I do in between 👀

I am ready to get on the ship and I've been sending out messages. but so far, no replies

Had a go in the NSX '02... put a turbo in, took it out again and managed to get into the 1.12.4's (replay saved).

Don't know if it's a meta car but at only 1098kg and 419bhp it was a nice drive.
You might go lighter or with more power sticking to the 1kw/3,5 kg rule (if calculated correctly). Interesting as I unfortunately cannot get along with the NSX.

Oh heck yes!! That result with that power is bonkers. Score for the feather weights. I will need to watch the replay yesterday and try later only to discover that I'm useless with the NSX again :indiff:

Last night's round of testing was all about MR cars - because I do not want to drive an FR drivetrain if I can avoid it

The highlight being the Ferrari F8 Tributo - 1:12.1 - short shifting around gear number.
515hp / 1350kg

Replay is posted under #ataq #ataqrwd #rheinaoi

@bliprunner 's Aston replay really helped me in that complex of weird corners after the big hairpin. Big thanks

Meanwhile, my Pagani Huayra and Ford GT '18 stuck in the 1:12.9s before applying new track knowledge:
