I did more testing again, and forgot to talk about it. Again.
First, the new personal bests:
RWD Class
Pagani Huayra
1:09.014
535hp / 3086lbs [1399kg]
Muscular Grace
Once again the Huayra proves that it is the superior platform compared to the Corvette C8 [because the C8 has not posted a laptime]. The tune is the same as last round.
The Huayra's stability that was once detrimental to its overall time now becomes its advantage - it' resists scrubbing off too much speed entering the flowing sections. Optimal is 1:08.9x. So close to 1:08s, it hurts ðŸ«
4WD Class
Audi R8 V10
1:08.071
499hp / 2881lbs [1306kg]
Delicious Death by Rotation
I decreased the power to 499hp to make the R8 V10 less controversal. It took that personally. The stars aligned for the one lap where I stomped through the virtual pedal box at all the correct times, while also not dying when I released the throttle.
All the desperation for rotation in the last round culminated in my R8 entering that left hand corner that goes on forever and rotating into the abyss.
So close to 1:07s, it hurts 🫠ðŸ«
🫠Honorable Mentions + My Skill IssuesðŸ«
Ruf CTR3
1:09.850
485hp / 2800lbs [1270kg]
You’re better than this...
The specs say one thing. The laptimes say another. Great torque. High downforce. Neutral handling. But why is it nowhere near the Huayra?!!
Dodge Viper GTS '13
1:09.530
504hp / 2934lbs [1330kg]
8 liters; yet gutless
When detuned from ~1000hp, the Viper's torque figure is incredibly... average. The engine feels asleep. That's a shame because the platform is wonderfully balanced with its mid-engine weight balance and strong aero.
Ford GT "06
1:09.581
502hp / 2934lbs [1330kg]
Slow Joy
Engaging driving experience. Neutral with an edge. Mega rear weight bias lobbed onto old suspension settings intended to create understeer -- because two extremes canceling each other out equals balance in my [unbalanced] mind.
Loudest, angriest engine note that does not sound like a V8 from inside the car.
Clio V6 – Engine Swap
1:11.330
405hp / 2343lbs [1062kg]
Struggles of Light Car Life
Great rotation, mountains of torque. Twitchy because of the short wheelbase. Somehow slower than the FL5. I have prepped a heavier, more powerful variant.
Radical SR3 - Engine Swap
1:11.914
384hp / 2216lbs [1005kg]
Struggles of Light Car Life: Part II
In real life, this hill climb prototype that wears number plates should cruise to the top of the leaderboard... But the Radical struggles so hard against the monsters and mutants that we have created, that it loses to the Almighty FL5.
The Radical needs that minimum 486-505hp horsepower badly, but the platform does not like the extra weight. Admittedly, mine had too much weight in the rear, hurting stability.
VW Golf VII - Engine Swap
1:12.585
463hp / 2831lbs [1284kg]
Super competent
It handles the power surprisingly well, but lacks downforce and understeers a lot off throttle in the high speed corners. I was too lazy to calculate power / weight, so this one may be underpowered
Citroen BX - Audi Swap
1:13.333
405hp / 2343lbs [1062kg]
Love can be slow and crazy
Overpowered, traction issues, but still a great handling platform. I do not care how slow it is.
Toyota MR2 – Engine Swap
1:10.294
499hp / 2881lbs [1306kg]
Balanced and competent
The engine is glorious, and the platform takes the power and weight well. It will give you bonkers top speeds despite having the five speed gearbox. Some oversteer on corner exit. And the curbs grab the front wheels too hard. I wish I knew how to find more time in this car.
As always, if you're morbidly curious about any of the tunes, feel free to ask.
