G'day guys,
Recently I've been having numerous occurrences of black screens (monitor shuts down completely and refuses to reboot), and on one occasion a blue error screen appeared (saying that the ati2dvag.dll was caught in an 'infinite loop'); both leading to the shutdown of windows, and both occurring either while I was watching podcasts or playing games; as of yet, when the computer is idle, no error has occurred.
I can't quote the blue error screen exactly, but from memory it said it had 'successfully dumped ... memory', and that windows had been 'shut down to prevent any further damage'. Of course, it also mentioned 'infinite loop...'
I did some research and found one site that recommended cleaning the chipset; however, when I opened up the case I found that the little fan underneath had become completely dislodged/(burnt?) from the card. Would I be correct in assuming this is the cause of all my problems?
I do recall hearing strange sounds in the case a while back...
Essentially, my question is what should I do now? Buy a new graphics card? A new fan?
I've got an ATI Radeon 9800 series card (bought with computer 3-4 years ago); any advice would be greatly appreciated!
