Audi and Mercedes cars are in GT3 right? That means that PD has licences from them right ?
Then how come the real Grand Tourisme models legends from these 2 manufacturers ( Audi R8 and Mercedes C9 ) are not there ?
I feel cheated.

THe C9 is in and just because they have the license to some cars does not mean they have the license for all. I don't think I've seen any racing audi's yet, with the exception of the tt-r, which I'm pretty sure is not a factory car.

PD may have the rights to Audi and Mercedes. But if them 2 company's have sold the license to use their LM cars to another company making a Le Mans game for example, then unless Audi and Mercedes have reserved the right to sell the license's for those cars to other gamesmakers, they will be exclusive to the imaginary Le Mans game.

And of course any company using licenses in their games would want them to be exclusive, to try and give their game a unique selling point.

Be patient, Grasshopper... There is already a Racing Audi TT scheduled to GT4 (it was one of the cars racing on the Official GT4 E3 video on the Nordschleife - it's a blue ABT TT from the german DTM) and the Sauber-Mercedes C9 can be seen in the 300+ pic thread.

Let's remember that only 300 cars are confirmed right now, which leaves plenty of room for future inclusions by both german manufacturers. It's very possible that the mega-winner R8 will be included in the final build, since PD is trying to expand the official racing categories present in GT4.

And it will be no surprise if LeMans is included in the game. After all, Mr. Yamauchi goes to France and watch this race every single year, and this year Sony held an official GT4 presentation during the race.

Let's keep our hopes up. This will be the ultimate "killer-app" for the PS2, and Kazunori & friends are building a real monster... They cannot let us down after so much development time...

Thanks for the explaination. I thought that if PD has a license from a car manufacturer, it was for all the models. But hey, I'm not a lawyer, I'm just a race driver :)
By the way, there is no imaginary Le Mans game if my memory is correct, there was a Le Mans game for PS2 from Infogrames "Test drive La Mans". So this could explain the absence of some models in the GT serie.

I know there was a Le Mans game for both the Dreamcast and PS2. And I actually have the game for the Dreamcast, :) but that was many years ago, and I doubt they (Infogrames or Atari as they are now known) still have that license. So I just used an imaginary Le Mans game as an example, I could as easily have said F1 cars. :)

Glad that's clarified the possible situation. I personally think they have quite a few LM type cars. (Fingers crossed) ;) :)

I just hope the AUdi license they have means we'll see at least Lambos in GT4... :)
No because they would need a Lambo license to have Lambo's, unless the Lambo license is free we wont see them, last I heared it was owned by EA. An Audi license will never allow you to include cars from other companies under VAG, you need either a license from VAG itself or a license from the individual marque such as Lambo.

I have a Dreamcast too :) and I love it, the picture is a lot better than the PS2 when connected to a VGA monitor.
I still play GranTurismo 2 on it whit the Bleemcast emulator. The picture quality is even better than playing GT2 on the Playstation2.
To stay on topic, another missing car from a licensed manufacturer is the BMW LMV12 that won in 1999.

The BMW V12 LMR is in GT4, unless your saying it wasn't included in that LeMans game.

As I pointed out previously...
