I was just wondering, is the new DSG from Audi an automatic or a manual? I mean, in manual mode, does the car upshift for you at any time or is it totally up to the driver?

Audi's DSG works very similarly to BMW's SMG II or Ferrari's F1 transmission. There is an automatic mode and a manual mode. It can shift automatically, or leave everything up to the driver --including the choice of bouncing off the rev-limiter all day long.
