Does this car still suck? I remember a while ago PD messed up a lot with this car, even the amount of gears was wrong, did they ever get around to fixing it?
The R10 is a beast, it just takes an adjustment to driving a very powerful diesel engine versus the more conventional gas powered high performance vehicles. The explosion of torque low in the rev range is quite different from say a 787B. This can make cornering very difficult at first until you can either refine your throttle application or tune the LSD to assist in smooth exits.
I won a Le Mans 24 hr by a couple of laps in one. Would have been more but it rained during the night which really slowed me down.
My favourite car ever. I'm still horriied at what PD did to it, it eats gas and devours tires at a monstruous rate (either that or the computer conserves it's resources trough arcane magic). It's not even close to the 908s, the Pescarolos, the older Audis. Ohhh boy...even the top speed is messed up.

It ran in every 24 hour Le Mans race I did in B-Spec getting to level 40. 15 minutes into the race & it's in 7th place. 15 hours later, the car would still be in 7th place. The car would eventually come in second in most races, but that's purely because the AI starts pitting on every lap for a while. Before that starts, it's no better than 7th.
FWIW, in another B-Spec race which had both the Audi R8 LMP & R10 LMP cars, the R8 killed the R10 easily.
It does have one advantage over the rest, when it rains on Le Mans or any other supported track, there is no rain that shows up on your screen compared to the 787 or 908. But as others said, with right tuning, it'll do a great job.

The R10 (untuned) will never be as fast as the group C(razy)
back in the days those cars were so redicilously fast that they sharpened the rulez.

The R10 is slow because it's powered by a V12 TDI engine, mainly focused on endurance than pure speed. Having said that, I drove the R10 (stealth model) in like the wind and it wasn't that slow compared to the others (mainly due to the AI though)
I can't say for sure, but it seemed to happen in every Le Mans race rain or shine. I always started the race in the morning & would check on it before going to bed. The Audi would be right there where it had been all day in 7th place. I'd wake up in the morning & the race would be finished, with the audi generally in 2nd place.
I've read here that the AI starts pitting every lap around the 19th hour. No idea why though. Couldn't really say if it does the same on the 'ring 24 race as I only ran that once.
Don't really know why the AI seems to drive the Audi so much slower than it does other cars, but it definitely does. The AI seems much faster in the Pescarolo & Bentley, putting the Audi laps down. The game has to glitch itself for the Audi to get 2nd place.
