Holy, the reflections on the black one are amazing.
Would love to get some details, how many polygons, which render program, which modeling program etc.

Not sure myself whether it is or not but this is the quote on the
http://www.germancarblog.com/ mentioning the rumour...

We found this cool video with rendering scenes of the Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI quattro. Rumor has it that it is taken from the upcoming Gran Turismo game. No matter what: eye candy alert!

It's a great render but it has, nothing to do with Gran Turismo.

Not GT, people really need to do some research before posting something.(not just talking on here but the internet in general).

GT for Ps4?
If so, I'll pass out.

Anyway, I hope I'm still alive when GT will look like this (19 years of age by now).

*Still hoping for Koenigsegg to be in*

Yup and actually, GT5 doesnt look that good, its close, but theres a noticable difference.
Another small detail: The number plates. ;)

It's an official audi video. If you clicked on the youtube link, it takes you straight to the audi channel

I think that the next gen racers will look like this, in 5 years or so.

Maybe games late in this console generation cycle will get close to that kind of level of rendering. Something like the next GT might look something like that on the PS3 (seeing as there has always been 2 GT's per console). Think of the graphical leap that happened between GT3 and GT4 on the same hardware.

However I dont think dynamically rendered material will ever equal the quality of pre rendered stuff.

Robin.

Nothing at all in common with GT5, apart from maybe the poly count.

However I dont think dynamically rendered material will ever equal the quality of pre rendered stuff.
I can remember when the PS1 came out and you had those pre-rendered intros, and we were all saying how great it would be if the in-game graphics were as good as that. Well, now they are as good, if not better, so while it may be unfair to compare current dynamic material vs pre-rendered material, I can guarantee that games in the not-too-distant future will look as good, if not better than those renders shown in this thread.

As for dynamic never equaling that of pre-rendered, I disagree. Reality in terms of looks is finite. As technology and capabilities to exploit that technology get more advanced, the gap between the two will continue to shrink.

Many years ago I'm sure that people were confident that the first audio playback devices would never sound as clear as reality...

The gap may shrink but I dont see that day where current can sit by current and work identically visually. So your watching an amazing CGI movie and at any time you can pause it and interact in the world in realtime without any loss in quality, I can't see that happening unless you lower the intial excellence of the pre-render. Of course as you stated older stuff can easy be done today in real time.

Also wouldnt you say that what is defined as reality is actually 'infinite' rather than finite. Because at every stage of computer generated imagery people has said it looks realistic and then comes the "but this could be...etc".

I bet that whatever stage generated realism is in the future people will always say it could look more realistic because if its not actually real, realism is unobtainable. Even if we get to the stage where you have a holographic crazy whatever it is people will still find flaws in its visual realism.

Robin.

It's an interesting debate Robin, but no, I don't see reality as infinite. Human eyes can only resolve a certain LOD. The reason why I never continued my sentence and said, "the gap will continue to shrink to a point where there is imperceptible difference" is because in part I do agree, it's going to take a lot to make real-time and pre-rendered indistinguishable. However, I wouldn't say that the two will never meet.

Doesn't forza have an exclusive licence for that car. Because that car has not been included in any other game. Only the older R8 has.

No, it's the same car with a different engine option, why would they even consider an exclusive licence for that?
Audi probably is present in GT with both options, other games may not be using it because they simply chose not to include it ( or it wasn't available at the time of development ).

Nah, I don't think so. It's 95% of a 4.2 v8 R8 ...

Well how many racing games which include real cars have come out since Forza? Almost none.

As for games which have come out since the R8 V10, I think it's Supercar Challenge and Need for Speed Shift. NFS Shift had all of about 120 cars, hardly a game which is going to have two versions of the same car. And I don't even think Supercar Challenge had any Audis.

Only worrying thing is GTPSP, which I don't think had the R8 V10. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Someone isn't very good with details... they had V8 wheels on the V10. That alone would show it isn't a GT5 render.

I only thought that because it's the cover car, my bad.

Well, i can see why you would think that, although exclusive licence deals in general mostly always concern a complete brand, not just one model.
And exclusive licence deals are getting increasingly rare these days, the only one i can think of right now is Porsche, although that deal expires this year i've heard. ;)

That render reminds me of the Koenigsegg one a long while back. With the camera rotations around the car, and the level of detailing.

One day, I'm sure racers will look this good.
