Audi Rs6 = The new skyline basicllly

I have driven both of these cars and can say that the RS6 and the R34 are aimed at totally different markets.

The Skyline was designed as a performance car that would respond well to tuning, its chassis was developed at the Nurburgring and held the production car lap record for a while. The RS6 was designed for cross-continent travel at high speeds, on mainly straight Autobahns.

The RS6 is a damn fast car, in a straight line; but once the road gets twisty the R34 would leave it for dead.

The reason is quite simple, the RS6 has a problem common with most Audi's. Engine placement is over and in front of the front axle (rather than the Skyline's which is slightly behind). With a 4.2 V8 located like this the RS6 suffers significant handling issues, even with the quattro system.

To compare the RS6 to any SKyline is to totally miss the point of the RS6.

BTW I agree with powripper, I'd take the R500 (in the dry anyway)

I can only see a 13% better acceleration figure, for 14% more money.

The Skyline is a big, heavy car. What is the Audi doing with that 60% more power it has?

Something to ponder. The R34 with the optional centre display you are able to up the boost from the .65bar factory to 1.1 bar. In doing so you being to unleash some of the potential. That being done there I've seen and been in an R34 VspecII that was doing 0-62mph in 4.7 seconds and the 1/4 in mid 12's. This is done with factory gear and not adding anything.
