It all comes down to weight - hell the V8 supercar is 1500 kg's isn't it and hell who knows what the Japanese / America/ French and any other car you wish to put against a V8 supercar weigh

Yes, grey Imports like Skylines etc were designed for Japanese conditions, you cant expect a Import like that hold up aswell in Australias conditions against cars that were made and designed for Australia.

You're right, as I said in the end it's horses for courses. My point is that it is unfair to compare the two cars in race trim without making the same comparison in road trim. They are both suited for their particular function, each better than the other dependent on which you are talking about.

In Ford and Holden's defence (which I am sure is not needed), both manufacturers produce vehicles that are excellent value for money (pretty much unchallenged), regardless of what their prime duty is (either as a pretty rapid 4 dr tourer or a simple taxi).

anybody looking at this thread who has GT4 can you post some pics of the australian cars if you dont have enough credit to buy the cars just take photos from the showroom. i want to see what they look like in GT4.

and yes phillip island would be awsome to have in GT4 since i go to races there.

Thanks for the info! :)

Also the original Holden 6 Cylinder grey motor was a Holden design and also the Red/Blue Blcak motors BUT they were roughly based on the old (Blueflame???)Chev 6. The Holden V8 1968-1998? was a local motor also and cube for cube just as good as the Chev small block and is a very famous motor down here. When V8 Supercars first started there were a couple of years transition between the Holden V8 the Holden Group A touring cars allways ran and the 302 Chev small block the Holden V8 Supercars were to be based on. On the last transition year Larry Perkins driving the only Holden V8 in the race at Bathurst beat all the Chev small blocks and the Ford Windsors to cross the line after 1000km's first. That was the last big race for the Holden V8 and it went out kicking Chevs butt as it so often did during its career : ), very stylish

GT4, no doubt needs Bathurst.

Albert Park would be nice too:)

I rode my bicycle around it and I can do about 9 minutes :dopey:

I think we need some every day family cars as well, why not put in a Ford BA Falcon XT and a Holden Commodore Executive?

They are so common on our roads and Japan has dozens of their common cars, why can't we have a few of ours?

I believe America should get their treatment of everyday cars as well.

I think it's 1350kg, About the same Weight as a VN Commdore or a 6 Cylinder HQ : ) but much lighter than the current fat heavy models. This is why with decent tires a stock 2-3000 dollar VN V6 (that has less than 200hp) can scare the life out of a VZ Monaro 0-60km/h : )

Australian everyday cars would be good, though what would you really call everyday, like you see SS,, GT's and GTS on teh Gold Coast like every minute , but i do believe more than 5 cars would be better

Agreed 5 cars are better than none. But for some comedy value how about the Peter Brock Group A car with the Energy Polariser. Align those molecules!!, that'll make it fly!!

If you haven't already worked it out, I'm a ford fan.

VN V6s are fast!
Too bad they handle like ****, and fall to bits often.

But i think the VN SS Grp A would have been a welcome addition. One of the fastest sedans in the world back in their day.

Especially when you put 35 pounds of boost through them.

Hmm.. I know your all gonna go errrrr when i say this,...

But anyway here we go...

I drive a magna... a 1998 tf 3.0l magna... and i love it as a car.. cause its cheap... and usually beats any evenly based commodores or falcons...

Its a crap performance car.. but its my car... and i would love it to be in the game...

along with a camry for gods sake...

and more commodores and falcons... its just to be able to see what i could do to my car and drive it around a track without costs...

actualy i think some of us are forgetting that we might like to drive crap cars as well :D haha (not that i think they are crap.. i love my ... magna along with commodores and falcons... My mate drives a camry.. when can we VS each other on a track? just to be able to do that.... would be awesome...

But i think the real cars that we all wanted, ferraris lambos and the like are still not included.... which is very dissapointing...

But i agree... it needs more cars!

Hey my parents own a 2001 Magna TJ , it goes pretty well i have to say , we also own a Ford Falcon and i have to say i do prefer the magna 100% over the Ford

The new AWD HSV monaro (is it getting produced any time soon?) would unsettle the rice burners (skylines) me thinks - and put Aussie cars on the map as worth racing by non-aussie GT players. Along with the holden 427 they would create a LOT more attention at Aussie cars internationally if they were included...

I know other countries would get a kick out of the V8 utes also - "ya we are having fun now!" Although Polyphony would need to add a new camera that can look out each side window of the aussie cars so you could see in the direction you are travelling!

Hmm what about the new torana concept... will that get the HSV treatment? Would absolutely rock to have a fast Aussie car thats more nimble... just to make sure we aren't stereotyped by just having big V8s in GT. I really think if PD would put in more Aussie cars, they would put in more really cutting edge new stuff, that the whole world would want to buy and race in GT for each car's looks and ability, not just for sentimental aussies. I somehow doubt PD would put cars in that no one besides australians would enjoy - those rose tinted glasses go a long way with some of the older holdens and fords.
Bathurst is a MUST though. Therefore a HRT V8 supercar is also a MUST by default, to race against the ford.

HSV's AWD coupe's not even close to the Evo 8 in terms of performance so i don't think it'll be able to take on the R34 anytime soon.

Aussie cars are great value with torquey 5.7-6lt v8 engines but i never saw them as sporty cars. My dad drives an XR8 and though they are quite fast in terms of straight line acceleration, they are way to bulky and sluggish around corners. Their weight and size is a real problem. That's also the reason i don't watch V8 supercars anymore: The cars are just way too big for the track!

Aussie cars were really designed to carry people, luggage, tow trailers and offer a bit of fun for the dad "all at the same time". We don't have the budget to carry so many different models like the japanese. So compromise is inevitable.

I never said the AWD monaro would beat the EVO!!! I only said it would maybe unsettle the rice burners (read: not neccessarily every Japanese car, just be competently fast enough to race against them) Also we don't know what the final specs of unfinished product anyways mate!! AWD and a huge V8 would count for a lot. Also the Quickest HSV beats all the EVOs in the "Showroom car battle" race on Bathurst the last 2 years. One year was even in the wet! The EVOs just can't hack it down conrod straight (they have short gearboxes for good acceleration but top out at 180kph or around-abouts), and can't make that time up in the corners. Aussie cars can be fast on the right track - sure not your everyday exec commodore, but lots of horsies - if you can use them - will work in a simple and effective manner.

Yeah i agree that if you give Aussie v8s enough straight road they can be formidable mate. Evos are different cars and they were built for rally conditions (lots of quick turns), though you can also tune them to be super quick like the FQ400 (faster than a Mercielago and Zonda). I too hope that the AWD Monaro will turn out great as i'm quite a Holden fan myself.

James2097
...and can't make that time up in the corners.

Not to mention on the way up the mountain as well...
Yes, I would like to see what a homologated version of the AWD Monaro can actually do, especially with lightweight panels, HD clutches, brakes and the other things that make garden variety Lancers into Evo specials... maybe an AWD HRT 427, now wouldn't that be awesome???

i think, in terms of aussie tracks, why not throw in a few "lesser-known" ones!!

Mallara, Lakeside and Wakefield park come to mind

heck, why not, id love to race at lakeside, a track i used to visit as a kid, in gt4

EVO beat a Zonda?! On dirt maybe. With jumps. I'd like to see your reference to that. I wouldn't think you'd ever get the balance, correct center of gravity, and low enough weight and power out of an EVO no matter what you did to it. Just physically and logically it doesn't make sense to me...I'd like to be proved wrong though as that would be tremendous value for money.

I would like to see a 4WD super sedan that doesn't have crappy turbo lag and short gears. The 2WD V8's problem is just getting all that power to the ground. Thats why they don't make them even more potent than they are - it would just be unsafe to drive. However with 4WD they can happily up the horsies significantly, and there is a lot of scope to do that... Nothing can replace having lots of displacement. I'm sure it would be possible to create an HSV that could pick up godzilla and chew him up! IMO EVOs, WRXs and R34s are highly regarded and are fast largely because they are the only 4WD sport sedans you can get. A highly powered V8 4WD would surely demolish them in circuit racing.

Oran Park would be a sweet addition to GT, along with Bathurst obviously. I would like to see most aussie tracks in the game but unfortunately if they do add any aussie roads, it'll only be Philip Island & Bathurst.

In the cars department, i think your all getting ahead of yourselves with the era in which your choosing cars you want in the game. Yes some of these new Fords & Holdens are excellent, but i think its unfair that they didnt cater for the classics. How can they justify putting in all that American Muscle, without even a glance at any Aussie Muscle. XY GTHO, HK & HT Monaros, and of course Toranas. Look at my Avater for christs sake, damn its sexy, i would take it over all this Yank Muscle anyday, even if it is only a 6. But most importantly, on tracks with alot of bends this thing could eat a V8 for Breaky. Dont get me wrong im a V8 fan, but im just tellin the truth.

A LJ GTR XU-1, running its full spec engine, could even give an Evo a run for its money on a tight course. The only things giving the Evo an advantage is the benefit of 4 wheels driving it as opposed to the Torana being rear wheel, and the Turbo in the evo would also give it that slight advantage.

To break it down, i think KY didnt spend enough time on Aussie Soil to really appreciate the cars that make Australia what it is. Once again we have been shafted, like its a damn popularity contest. GT4 is suppose to be the history of motoring, well i hate to say it but vehicle models ranging from 2000 to 2004 arent Australias history of motoring. People will see the CV8 Monaro and the GT Falcon, and think thats Aussie, thats what Australia have to offer.

I just hope PD rectifies the problem in GT5. More Aussie tracks, and more Aussie cars are needed.

Isnt the AWD HSV monaro meant to be only made in auto? I'm sure I read an article in the paper saying that this new Monaro will only be made in auto.

Yeah dang now i remember i read something like that before too. Not good news. :ouch:

Bloody hell sodazman, thats one sick EVO. Its a 4 door with a boot!!! BUT, its got comparitively crap balance (higher center of grav than zonda) and with the motor in the front, so i dunno about it beating a zonda around any type of corner. It just says it out-accelerates the zonda. But for the cash I don't think you'll hear anyone complaining! Also its evidently got short gears with a top speed not over 300kph like a "normal" supercar. I'm also worried about the engine would just explode all over the track with the kind of pressures it would need to have to get that kind of HP out of it. Very immpressive car though.

Edit: crap grammar

Edit: thanx for the article!!

Yes its a auto only.

Oh yeah the auto only thing sucks as hard as a suck would suck if it could suck real hard.
Oh well.

I reckon PD could be vain enough to include Phillip Island instead of Bathurst just cause its prettier, and KY likes pretty stuff (photo mode).

Does the new ford GT40 feature in the intro movie so prominently just cause KY bought one? They should've used a Volvo hehe.

Yeah i have no idea how they do it mate. About reliability they apparently give the cars a full 3-year warranty. It must be hard work testing those machines. It's not a supercar imo (esp. with the top speed), but it's pretty darn close.

PS: Don't worry about your grammar mate

About the old Aussie cars: I reckon PD would only put them in if more people than just sentimental Aussies wanted them. Japanese/US/etc players couldn't care less I'm very sorry to report. I'd like them to be included in an ideal world, but newer cars are more exciting for the majority of players. GT was never REALLY a historical catalougue of automotive history. Its mostly recent cars if you haven't noticed. Also by the time GT5 comes out there could be some genuinely interesting Aussie cars like the 4WD coupe (GT wouldn't restrict it to auto, its not that anal is it?) and new torana etc.

Thinking about the US muscle cars included, addmittedly they are all well known famous models outside the US as well as in. Even given the merits and historical Australian significance of our old cars, you can't say non-aussies would feel any connection to them. Its just what we have to put up with when a very talented but JAPANESE man is heading up the dev team. I was actually surprised we got 5 cars. The number can only go up or stay the same in future GT games I hope.
