Australian Grand Prix in Doubt Post-2010

That would require the intallation of floodlights.
Yeah, but wouldn't dusk need to have headlights as well? What if it happens to rain during the race? Its almost a night race during that sort of weather. Besides, the deal wasn't confirm yet has it? ;)

With the race ending at 7pm maximum, there'll be plenty of light - remember, it's not middle of winter there at the start of the season. 5pm - plenty of light. 7pm - shadows, but not dark. Just watch NASCAR to see what I mean - they start around the afternoon, and there's quite a while before it gets really dark.

March in Australia is fairly hot, even though it's pushing towards Autumn during that time the weather is still beautiful, and daylight savings assures that there is plenty of light until 8PM or so onwards.

I see you choose to take me out of context, you know what I was reffering too...

yeah I know :).

Lets just hope Bernie does not remove it all together from Aussie Shores. I might have a hard time watching it if there is no Aussie F1.

Announced today, the AUS GP WILL remain in Melbourne but will start at 1700 local time, thus airing the race in the morning in Europe, 0700 in England

Hopefully the race will still be live on Australian TV, unless channel 10 still believe reality TV is more important. I'm guessing SD will get a delayed telecast, while HD will get it live.

You are joking right? 10 broadcasting a 5pm race live? It cuts into the news coverage for starters.10 would believe that reality IS more important, so once again motorsport fans, in this case F1 fans, will get shafted, yet again.

Where I live ch10 is through an affiliate, southern cross, and we dont get the HD feed, only static, so SD it will have to be and at no doubt some ridiculous hour...

Just like the usual 11pm slot.

Long live Albert Park, I hope that the ticket prices won't rise to some ridiculous price. This year General admission tickets were $99 for an adult and $68 if you had a concession, an absolute steal. I'd love to see the spectacle yet again next year, and I think the altered time frame will be brilliant for spectators aswell. If global warming goes the way it has so far it'll be a sweltering day, but with the race held later the spectators might have an easier time then if they were in direct sunlight.

Good job Bernie, you finally signed something that was worth while. 👍

Unlike this year where is was in the 40's for most of the day.

Had a multi day/grandstand seat for that weekend, bloody brilliant. We had the front straight on the Saturday, first time there for me and really enjoyed it. See how we go next year with the later start ;)

Exactly. I was there this year aswell, on the apex of turn 2. It was the most overwhelming site ever, seeing the drivers belting along up the straight being blinded by that hellish summer sun, best experience of my life so far. I'll never forget it.
