This question has been on the official PS3 GT5 forum for 2 days and as of yet no one in officialdom will bother to answer me so I thought I would try the experts here.

On Friday the 13th (very apt), the new GT Academy appeared in the online challenges section on my PS3 for the first time.

So I would like to enter it BUT how do I get the Nissan Leaf Academy version? Apparently I must have already completed the previous races so the car can be sent to me.

But I was one of this poor mug Aussies that never bothered to cheat the system and register an overseas account so therefore I can't get the car sent to me.

So what is the go here? How do I get the car and presumably the next ones that will be required to I can now enter the comp?

Cheers TT

..

You can't - the GT Academy cars are not tradable. Furthermore, anyone with a PS3, PSN account, and internet access should have been able to download the 2012 GT Academy demo. You wouldn't have had to make an overseas account.

You might be able to borrow the car, unfortunately they are not gift able :( .. I'll gladly put mine on share for you if you need me too! I'm at work right now for 4 more hours but if you want to send a friend request to : jgancherjr I will put it on share and accept as soon as I get home!

If I recall correctly, GT Academy cars are just like DLC cars, you can't trade nor share them. By all means, give it a try.

They can't be gifted but can be borrowed. If you send a FR now to genuio_67 you can borrow mine. ;)

I have them set to online and do borrow them from my other accounts so as not to put switches and mileage on all of them.

If you want to borrow them please pm me.

That's not true. The GT Academy demo was not available in the Australian store. I checked and checked for a few weeks after it came out.

In the end I made a US account and, hey presto!, there it was (along with a BUNCH of other stuff (not GT5) that I hadn't seen in our store).

GT Academy Australia will be held in 2013

Bathurst will be the track used in the final stage time trial, using one of these -

though it will have GT Academy stickers

I made a us account and after racing on that account gt academy was available on my main account.

Yes, once it was downloaded onto my PS3 (via the US account), I could use it on my Australian account straight away. But it wasn't available for download in the Australian PS Store.

Is that your thoughts, Or do you have concrete proof of this.

Damn, I had a quiet 'moment' , just then. If only!!! A full lap around the mountain in something purposefully set up...dreams will be anything but dry this evening.

OK, I have temporarily solved the problem by one of my mates lending me a car so the suggestions here worked fine.

But it still does not answer *why* Sony/PD have chosen to make it difficult for Aussies - again! :-(

Whoops, my error.

GT academy was made available for Aus/NZ accounts sometime during round 4 of the event. It made it to the news on gran-turismo.com if I remember right, but wasn't easy to find in the store, you had to do a search for 'gran turismo' in the PSN store and you could find and download it there.
