Australian GT4 Launch date confirmed!

A mate of mine went to the games wizards in richmond(nsw) ansd pre ordered GT4 and they said they might be having a midnight sale,dont know about about any other games wizards stores though? I am going to keep checking but so far both EB and the gamesmen also harvey norman in penrith are opening like normal at 9am.

That $300 DFP and GT4 pack sounds like an awesome deal. I think the DFP was about $300 by itself last time I checked at the game-rush in the Melbourne CBD.
 
I was planning on pre-ordering GT4 upon confirmation of a release date, and that so happened to be 2 weeks ago. I live in qld and go to uni in the city, so during my break i thought i would go and pre-order and hopefulyl get a good deal. The guy offered me nuthing but i wasnt convinced, so on my day off from uni on thursday i went and asked my local EB at the hyperdome, and ended up pre-ordering it for $300 with the DFP :D :D :D !!!. So you basically get the game free. I took back 6 games that i didnt want which included, simpsons hit and run, nfsu2 (dont hate me i didnt buy it, though i did buy it on pc :(), men of valor, sudeki, mortal kombat deadly alliance and mortal kombat deception. That totalled $147 off my deal plus the $20 upon pre-order leaves me with $133 to pay next thursday.

Lucky for me thats my day off from uni so i can play it all day long, however if they do a wednesday night release i think i shall get it then and stay up playing it :D. Damn !! i cant wait to drift my worked Boss 5.4L FPV GT with my new DFP ... the GT will be Vixen with White stripes ... drools ! Actually i'll buy one in every colour along with the typhoon in every colour .... :D :D :D.

I just rang my local JB Hi-Fi (Knox, Melbourne) and they said they aren't getting it until 17/3/05! The only consolation is my local EBgames are doing the DFP wheel plus GT4 for $300, which effectively gives the game for free, and is available on the 10th, but the earliest they may open is 8am. Obviously no GT4 geeks in my local store.

Now all I have to do is persuade the missus it's good value for money as it'll be the ONLY game I'll own for the PS2 :D

Was adv by game geek there (yep, he's hanging for it as much as we are) that they are opening store ('s?) 12am 10/3/05 till 2am for a special release extravaganza, incl bundles on special.

Almost all EBs shut at 9pm on Thursdays.

The EB offers are:

-$299 for DFP wheel and GT4;

-$9.95 for GT4 with 3 trade-ins (some of the games mentioned above are excluded);

-also $199 for a slim PS2 with GT4 bundle when you trade in a fat old PS2 and one non-exlcuded game.

hi guys, first thread, long time forumer, but noob here (im in brisbane),
just thawt ud like to kno that ive got my pre order, and i looked into the 3 games and 10 bucks issue a week ago, and they want new games to the 2nd hand value of $40,
here is wot they told me, i said how much is vice city worth, they said $15, so thats no good. i said what about san andreas (coz i stoped playin it 2 months ago) and thats the only one ive got worth $40. so unless uve got new games u dont want, its not worth it. ( 40x3=120 + 9.95 = $129.95 for GT4) ill b paying the 100 for the game on its own thankyou.

This might be old news to you by now but over here most stores are selling the GT4 bundle for $339,95...give or take $10 depending where you go. Hope this help.

Yeah I know but the place I order from usually send them out a day before and since the shop is located in my city I could get it Wednesday. Well I am hoping anyway.
 
The GT4 advert during the F1 coverage was awesome! I live right next to Albert Park race track, so I've got "real" surround sound when the F1 cars rip round past the quantas bridge!!! They are bloody loud but awesome fun. Pity its raining for the V8's now... hehe

Man GT4 is getting real close now - I am getting actually excited..
 
i took annual leave next thursday so ive got 26 hrs to play it non stop when i get it.

but then does any1 know if theres a chance that an EB games store might run out of stock on thursday and ill have to wait to collect my preorder on friday??

if theres limited numbers per day or somthing, does that mean its earliest preordered - first served??

i dont wanna have the day off then find out i have to wait another day.

any1 kno? or should i just give em a ring?

I dont think youll have a problem, the amount they order depends on the amount of Preorders they have plus extra for the shelve. The only reason you could miss out is if Sony have limited stocks which I doubt, due to how long we've been waiting.
 
ive just preorded from eb at the Glen (Melb) and i asked the guy there how many preorders there were, apparenlty 60 ppl have preorded from there. Hopefully they have enough copys there after i finish work to pick up straight away.

if not then im on the hunt to find it that day at another shop
 
im gonna be pissed if i waited a year, changed my preorder to another store, waited another 4 months, and then it turns out that i took the day off for nothing. oh well. i guess i shud stop worrying, and go and hunt down some industrial strength eye drops. thanx marx and viper.

My friend also said they have a limit to every game order and at this rate they won't have any for in store..i think he said there limit was 140 or something. All the GT4 bundles have been sold through pre-order as well mind you there was only 8 of those. But in all when you think about it thats a fair lot of games really, i bet kaz & sony are rubbing there hands together right about now :D

But that commercial on t.v is it the one where the cars fall out of the sky in a city?? if it is we got the same t.v commercial over here too.
 
I preordered the last PS2-GT4 bundle for a friend at the store I went too, lucky.

The commercial I saw was a car went into the pits and transformed into different cars like the Ford GT and Ford model T etc.

any chance you could confirm that store limit of 140 copys? id like to know so i can ask my EB store how many preorders they have waiting, then i can work out if theyl be any problems come thursday. thanks sajuuk.

Does anyone know if there are any midnight releases here in Brisbane? I've been phoning all the places in my area and they aren't doing it.
