Might there be an easy way to have the server check to see if an attached file is an image, and if so have it load on the page? It would make it easier than attaching the image. Then viewing the attachment, and editing the post to include the image.

attachment.php

(thusly ...)

This could be easily enabled, but I've got it turned off to conserve my bandwidth usage (so, I don't pay for you to see a picture unless you really want to). :)

Well, that's understandable. What are your conditions with your new provider? Do they charge for bandwidth usage?

Oh, yes, they do! With the new dedicated server, there's no set "limit"; I'll only pay for the bandwidth the server actually uses (at the rate of $2.50/GB).

Well, it wouldn't take much for that to get expensive.

I retract my suggestion on the grounds that it has the ability to cost (:

Forums.GTPlanet.net is using more or less around 1 GB of traffic per day, and GTPlanet.net is using about 4 GB per day. Thank goodness my server comes with plenty of bandwidth... :D

.... per DAY!?! That's insane! http://www.stoneward.com uses about 1GB a month! We have a 2GB limit, and I was going to get a smaller account, but the web guys have a tendancy to use more disk space than formerly thought to be possible - 200+MB. I tell them about once a week to clean the stupid thing off, they don't listen. Sure would be nice if we could get a dedicated RaQ to host our site, and our clients sites.

Yep, per day. I thought you guys at StoneWard were already hosting your own servers (on the DSL line)?

I host our internal/personal stuff ... employees.stoneward.com. But the website (www) is hosted by HostPro due to the very large mpegs that are on it. There is a 12mb mpeg of a commercial we did, along with 15 or so more from 8mb to 10mb. I thought a real host would better serve that kind of data than a wimpy 384kbit upsteam connection. I max it out all the time by myself ... 38kb/s. And when your upstream is full, you get no downstream - because you can't send an acknowledgement that you're recieving packets. Well, it just makes it all go really slowly ...
