Good afternoon to all of You good people!

Idea for this thread started from an enthusiast point of view as basically a lot of this happened in my life due to Gran Turismo itself, this forum and the love of cars in general.

Main purpose of this thread is not advertising but a showcase of car restoration work in this day and age.

For any business enquiries we're available via multiple channels of communication so it's best to send me a private message if there is any interest.

Subject of this thread was approved by Jordan from gtplanet as I didn't want any free advertising so we agreed upon a small donation in a form of premium account purchase.

INTRO

The business started approximately 10 years ago as a love child of the owner (and now a good friend) Denis that is a Nissan Skyline GTR enthusiast.

From a two man job R33 GTR refurbishment in a garage - it developed to a fully running shop and we tend to do most of the work in house, currently employing around 10 people in the department.

I joined about 4-5 years ago as it was my life purpose and a dream to work in this field so basically my hobby became a full time job.

I have a lot of stories to share about the whole crew and cars that we worked on, but You will have to stay tuned as I'm not in a position to spend a lot of time writing so I'll keep editing the first post with more info when I can.

Range of vehicles we did is pretty wide - from 1930's vehicles to modern JDM classics.

The projects I'm going to share with You will be organised/updated randomly as I have a bunch of photos to go through. They will be described and showcased in a minimalist fashion - if someone prefers to see more about a certain project - I will try to keep up with the interest.

From the notable mentions - I can provide some photos and info at request as most of these were taken with older phones.

For the quality of photos You'll have to excuse me as not all photos are great due to various phones used while photographing the work on the vehicles.

BMW 850Ci Engine Rebuild

Vehicle came to us with overheating issues and excessive oil consumption.

Due to the fact it was badly neglected with maintenance, prior to the overheating issue the engine was consuming a lot of oil.

As the cylinder liners are Nikasil coated and the fact that all components including the main and big end bearings from BMW are relatively expensive to the owner's budget, bottom end was re-ringed with proper cleaning and measuring of all clearances.

In between - all parts that are old and worn out were replaced.

Scope of Work

• Engine removal
• Measuring of clearances, examination of components
• Restoration of cylinder heads - valve job, machine job, new consumables
• Thorough cleaning
• Painting of engine exterior covers
• Regular maintenance
• Engine installation
• Vehicle testing
• Delivery

Nissan 200SX S13 1989 - semi restoration and modification

Owner approached us with a request to do mainly bodywork and paint for his Clubsport 200SX.

As we talked about it more and more things developed into semi assembly with some modifications.

He's quite happy about the results and currently is running around 500bhp SR20VET that he built himself with a 6 speed Z33 gearbox.

For the exact reason he wanted to make some adjustments to the bulkhead and gearbox tunnel. Sunroof removal was also on the list of tasks so he provided a roof skin from a donor car that we transferred to this one.

Vehicle had a collision at some point in it's life and the repairs were not done properly, so we tried to make it a bit nicer.

I sourced him a NOS set of door sills in Germany, probably a last pair available at this time, so we had an opportunity to make a really nice car.

Change of paint was done due to the fact it's going to be used on track so customer wanted a simple one tone paint job and chose a Porsche Modegrau for the colour. Car was complemented with the wheels done in the scheme for a GT3 so it matches the Modegrau that he chose.

Scope of Work

• Disassembly to bare metal
• Changing of door sills with new original Nissan parts
• All needed bodywork repairs
• Zinc plating the hardware and hard lines, repainting of components
• Subframe modifications for anti-squat reduction

• Undercoating and repainting
• Soundproofing and heatproofing
• Wheel refurbishing
• Half assembly

Nissan 200SX S13 1993 - custom vehicle WIP

This project started as a simple bodywork and paint but ended up into a complete custom vehicle for my customer and current long life friend from Germany.

This one is a bit different than the previous one regarding style. The biggest enjoyment was to have both cars at the same time in the shop as both represent a different kind of direction.

Scope of Work

• Disassembly to bare metal
• Fabrication of most of the frame parts and bodywork
• All needed bodywork repairs and adjustments
• Restoration of components
• Engine refresh
• Installation of the Kouki body kit
• Installation of aftermarket parts
• Undercoating and repainting
• Soundproofing and heatproofing
• Upholstery of the roof and door panels
• A lot more of small details

Nissan R33 GTR V-Spec 1994 - underbody refresh and engine rebuild

Recently the RB26 blew a turbo on a road trip so the engine had to be pulled out.

Since everything is out - might as well do the underbody refresh and make it a bit tidier all together.

This is also a car with relatively high spec from back in the day - around 600bhp with a lot of details from the early 00's.

Scope of Work

• Engine and turbochargers rebuild
• Partial disassembly
• Removal of everything from the underside to bare metal
• Application of epoxy primer, new undercoating and paint
• Restoration of components while you're in there
• Partial repaint of the exterior components
• Polishing
•Assembly and testing

Morettini race car recreation 1934 (Fiat I6 engine) - fabrication and paint

This car we actually did in two separate stages. The first time we got a bare mechanicals and chassis to work with, afterwards the car had the body fabricated in France that came to us semi finished. After a bit of refabrication we managed to put it together as some panels didn't fit properly. Afterwards it was painted at owner's request - they do a lot of racing activities with these "old" cars and also some traveling.

Scope of Work

• Engine check up and regasketing
• Partial assembly
• Refabrication of some components and bodywork
• Production of various custom pieces at the machinist
• Fabrication of the floor board and firewall
• Fabrication of brake lines with adjustable regulator, pedalbox, exhaust etc.
• Painting

If you don't mind me asking.

So I am on the fence on doing this on my car as well, roofskin and everything. I wanted to do it my self but I just do not have the confidence to remove my quarter glasses so I am having the local shop by me do it when I also get a full respray.

The issue is just justifying it, that extra money to seal the roof could go to traveling and etc.. However I hate it leaks (its a aftermarket sunroof). Its not alot just tiny drips but its very annoying.

I guess my question is if I decide to keep the sunroof is there a way I could install my own drain tubes on the four corners on the sunroof? I do not know how I would go on about that, tried looking it up but could not find anything. I know the oem sunroof has drain tubes but cannot find any diagrams.

I sourced him a NOS set of door sills in Germany, probably a last pair available at this time, so we had an opportunity to make a really nice car.
Surpised you found that. I had to unfortunately make mine from scratch. Took me two months by replicating my good side. Made me realize why people charge so much for body work.

Very impressed with all of the work. You guys are doing some serious restorations, love to see this instead of people throwing away cars just because of minor rust that can easily be fixed. I've seen too many S chassis & GTR's get parted out for rust that could be fixed. Ashame tbh. Big Ups to you guys.

Not sure if you guys do wiring, but if you want to offer your fellow S-Chassis clients a climate control upgrade. I made this Guide a while back. The digital one is much better than the analog in my opinion.

Thank You for Your comments - I appreciate that.

Here in this part of Europe we don't have too many of those cars so we tend to restore them instead of dismissing them.

Especially in the areas around Austria and Germany, even UK rust seems to be the biggest issue next to the other main issue - bad previous rust repairs.

Rear quarter glass removal on the S13 is a slow and steady process due to the fact no new replacements are available and seals are not a separate item so You need to spend a lot of time and effort to do it properly and not damage the seals.

If You don't have the right tools and patience + experience it's best to leave it to the specialist shop, although anything can be done.

The reason for the sunroof removal on this particular car was extra headroom for track days with a helmet on and it also sheds some weight on the highest part of the vehicle - benefits for track usage as well.

Drain tubes were located in the pillars guided all the way to the drains on the sills IIRC - I can try to check in my photo albums, maybe I can find something.

On the green S13 we had to fabricate the sills as well as there wasn't a set available at the time - it was a lengthy process, the set I have found was a NOS set hidden in some storage that somebody decided to sell and we jumped on that ASAP as it's a really hot item for these cars - they all suffer from same problems.

We do wiring when we need to refurbish the harness - I'll look into Your files (thanks btw) but we're more concentrated on doing complete builds - at this stage it's hard to manage an online shop even if we had the production.

Lagonda Low Chassis 1931 - semi restoration and engine rebuild WIP

This vehicle was bought at an auction as a good preserved vehicle but with minor cosmetic and functional faults.

As the owner of the vehicle is concentrated on patina - no repaint is wanted and old leather is appreciated - as long as most of the visible parts of the vehicle are period correct and have patina - he is happy.

In the process of redoing some of the upholstery with old leather that came with the car, we also did some detailing and retouching on the original paintwork with good cleaning of the underside.

While cleaning the engine and mechanicals a lot of problems were noticed so engine had to be disassembled for the rebuild.

Someone already did a rebuild back in the day at one point of the vehicle's life but as these engines are extremely long stroke (120mm of stroke) - the bores were oval, rods were bent and the pistons were loose in the bore.

Special made pistons came from Italy - not the same design but have the same dynamic properties of expanding at heat.

We also had to produce some of the gears locally as the corrosion and wear have eaten up metal.

Fuel tank was fabricated new from scratch from the design of the old one that was full of rust.

Scope of Work

• Engine rebuild
• Detailing and retouching
• Upholstering the interior in old original leather
• Production of various custom pieces at the machinist
• Production of gears for timing chain and oil pump/magneto drive
• Fuel tank fabrication
...

Datsun 240Z 1970 - full restoration WIP

This car is one of the early 1970's export RHD vehicles delivered to Nissan South Africa - see article https://www.classiccarafrica.com/articles/big-japan/

Chassis number HS30-00021 was apparently Nissan SA demo car used for various promotions and was sold to a private customer later in life in the 90's. Current owner bought the car recently and shipped it over to us for a concourse restoration.

Difficult task nowadays is trying to source some of the unobtainable NOS OE Nissan parts so sometimes You need to accept the second best thing You can find in the aftermarket with the hopes to change it over to OE Nissan when available.

Scope of Work

• Concourse restoration

I didn't have time to update for a while so I'll put a filler post of last couple of months.

We have some more projects that came in, we did some road and track testing of the vehicles that we restored.

My friend and client from Croatia brought his R33 for some improvements and he also purchased a 944 S2 that was turbocharged so we're fixing that up.

Another R33 came in for full restoration.

Recently we had a brand new GR Yaris for additional protection of the underside.

My friend and client from Germany visited this summer to see us and also had the Mazda polished again after a season.

With my client from Austria with the grey S13 we did a track day.

Stuff like that!
