all my friends keep saying they have some autopilot thing on gtpsp.
they wont tell me how. and all i can find on the internet is changing the gas to the r button and putting a rubbberband around it and racing around test track.
is there some kind of autopilot that i dont know about??????

When it a multiplayer race you can set you car to be driven by the AI, instead of driving it yourself. Kind of like B-spec in GT4, but without the ability to tell the AI what pace to race at and no time warp.

Don't panic.
Just like peter said, only works in adhoc racing, when your racing in single player the rank you work so hard to get up is not only for harder adversaries, it also to makes your AI racer to get better.
During a adhoc race press start, and select auto pilot, the driver will fallow the racing line only making small adjustments, like braking slightly later.

It's not that good any way, since you can always achieve better lap times driving the car yourself.

There are only 2 uses I can think of.
1. Grinding for credits. If you have 2 PSP, or have a friend with one and GT, set both drivers to AI and have them do a 99 Nurburgring race while you do something else.

2. Have the AI race on a track that you haven't ranked up yet and watch all the mistakes it makes, or have the AI race and be the in car camera director while you watch the race (looking to the rear on a twisty track with a car right behind you is pretty cool).

3. Or when you realize that you have no chance of wining the race, you just leave the AI finish the race for you. heheh :dopey:

You can also select AI mode before an adhoc race begins. After selecting your car, move your arrow up to your car on the player list and press X. The 'AI' icon will show up, and your car will be in autopilot/B-spec mode as soon as the race starts.

Actually, it is possible for the AI to be a better driver than you. If you pick a really slow car, it is very easy to get S ranks on all tracks. As a result you may not have the skills to drive a fast car at S rank's pace, but your AI does. I hope that makes sense...
