Auto Throttle, All Cars?

Hello folks!

I bought GT4 four days ago and the game worked fine.
I don't know what has happened now to some of the cars.
But it started to happen after that I finished All Japan GT Championship with NISSAN Fairlady Z Concept LM Race Car '02.
The car + the car I won; NISSAN MOTUL PITWORK Z (JGTC) '04, act wierd.

When I take a corner at a speed of 80MPH+ without throttle the cars auto-throttle. They can either keep a steedy speed or they do even accelerate on their own. Only these two cars act like this, so far!
NISSAN Fairlady Z Concept LM Race Car '02 didn't do it at the first place but after finishing All Japan GT Championship it occurs in every corner.
I've tried to set all settings to default and it still happens.

So I wonder if it's a glitch/bug, and if it'll happen to every Nissan Z-350 model, and possibly other cars?

Thanks in advance, and happy Easter!

Yea it will do that with any car if you shift down to a low speed it will rev back up to a very high rev so it will accelerate for jus ta second ive done that alot in rally races and **** like that

Its the ASM oversteer working. Turn it off. Driving aids ruin the driving in the game.

Oh and happy easter to you too :)

actually, i do think its a lil glitch, i usually have the same setup for most of my cars, and the only cars that i have a problem with are my opel speedster, and suby legacy. in some corners they will accelerate all by themselves without any input. not just stay the same speed, but accelrate!

never experienced that... in fact i dont think ive used driving aids at all apart from licenses.

Are you guys using automatic?

I'm using manual and it still happens to me when I forget to take the driving aids off. The reason it only happens to some cars is that only some cars are prone to understeer or oversteer or whatever it is trying to corect - most of the time it just ends up making me go wide on a corner because I have too much speed.

It was happening to me too. I checked my controller settings and it looks like the left joy stick is set up for both directional driving and accel and braking. I set the accel and brake to "NONE" and that cured my problem.

There is no setting available for the right stick. Its confusing compared to the controller options in GT3. Hope that helps

glitched

When a car is oversteering the best thing to do is put the power down, so when you take your foot off the accelerator the driving aids accelarate for you to stop the tail from spinning futher out.

i dont understand why people say to turn driving aids off. it doesnt really make you any slower! turning them off makes your car MUCH less controllable.

There is a huge difference between control and stability. Driving aids make the car more stable and easier to drive but very difficult to control since you can’t make the car do what ever you want, the moment the car over or under steers the driving aids kick in and you lose control even though the car is still stable. Turning aids off make the car much less stable and makes it difficult to drive. It takes a lot of skill to control the car but in the end, YOU have control of the car, not the computer. driving aids do slow you down depending on your skill and driving style though.

well thats becaue you can't drive apparently. I usually drive faster with driver aids off(except traction control in a real high power car). most people on this board can drive faster with the aids off thatn on. turning aids off doesn't make them much less controllable, I've spun with aids on and with aids off. I don't know about you, but my driving style prefers oversteer, sometimes more of a neutral style if I'm trying to save tires. but I prefer a little oversteer and aids won't let me oversteer at all basically.

rock.

you dont know what youre talking about, oversteer can happen with TCS on and EVEN OVERSTEER ASM on. I should know because i like oversteer biased cars too!

TCS restricts your throttle when the wheels are slipping. ASM steers for you when over/understeer is detected.

As long as the computer is driving for you, you aren't in full control of your car.

You need to look around a bit before you start making comments like this.

First off, the fastest GT drivers in the world (that includes Famine, by the way) will tell you—and rightly so—that you can go faster with aids turned off. Aids are like training wheels – they'll keep you out of the weeds while you're still learning to drive, but once you reach a certain skill level, they'll only hamper you.

That's not just for GT4/3 either – in real life, most car magazines will shut off a car's TCS in order to get the fastest slalom times, because TCS purposely slows you down in order to regain control. It's a simple matter of physics.

The only Traction Control you should have on any car is your right foot.

Unless it's a TVR Cerbera Speed Twelve. In which case don't bother driving it.

Well i wasn't disagreeing with famine WAS I?

I was specifically referring to this comment (my apologies for quoting the other one):
i dont understand why people say to turn driving aids off. it doesnt really make you any slower!
That's what I was refuting. My point was that anybody, including fast drivers like Famine, would tell you that that's wrong.

No, you weren't.

Either way, the reason people are saying turn off the driving aids is that the ASM system while give the car gas to keep the weight balanced and the car from over or understeering into a corner. Disabling these will remove the auto throttle on a car, as the ASM will no longer be attempting to control the vehicle.

Fruther more, they do slow you down, has nothing to do with over and understeer consitency. They simply limit what you can do with your car in a situation. Perhaps you don't mind a little understeer on a certain turn, but you want oversteer on a different one? So on and so forth :p

I consider myself a good driver and I always set my driving aids, I mean seriously if it makes my car turn sharper with less wheelspin I am going to go FASTER. It does put a brake on, so in certain applications driving aides will hamper you - but - in most cases the driving aides are benficial to my lap times.

Yes overtsteer and understeer can and does happen with TCS and ASM on, I never said it couldn't but when ever the car enters into one of these states ASM take over to return the car to neutral. I would appreciate if you think about what you’re talking about before you comments like the one you made.

what did i say without thinking? i havent said anything false in that post have i? didnt think so.

Look, if you prefer to drive with driving aids, so be it. But know this: when you're not in full control of your car, you will never live up to the full potential of your car.

asm and tcs interfere a lot in gt4, they are handy for a bit but lose grip and the car goes dead

I guess this has come full circle. Those who use the aids will only prove their point when they throw down some heavy numbers. Those who don't use them (aka Famine) have already done this and are in the position to give advice. Advice I'm willing to take and heed out of simple respect, if not curiousity as to what I can do without them. So, in summary, lap times speak louder than words. Post yours to back it up and then maybe someone will actually care about anything you say.

well said... cant say ive been here for a long time. but ive seen the info people like FAMINE make. (lol he also blew me away once by telling me about some race he done... integra versus 787b...i think) anyway, what im trying to say is people have diffrent opinions, but i tend to listen to what other member say then add an opinion or an idea, not an argument.

i actually just bought a jaguar s-type R, and if i leave it without accel it will accel by itself to like 11 mph. is that called not IDLE?

actually the fastest, most talented drivers in the world do use driver aids, until they were banned ( Formula1) and they produced very fast very stable cars i hardly think anyone would disagree with me here on this...

in terms of gt4 i turn them very low and i tend to like a bit of understeer... with 1000+ HP cars, it is quite neccessary to use traction control to some degree like a 4 or 5 setting this helps to put the maximum amount of power down without losing grip right to the edge but ijn the end to each his own i respect how you want to play the game.
