Automatic or Manual?

Manual. Since driving a real car, I can't stand automatic now. I just wish the gear stick was more like in a real car though... :(

I feel ya. I have a 5 speed myself.

I wish Gran turismo came out with a manual gearbox for the DFP and add a clutch. I'd be all over that :dunce:

I prefer manual a lot more than auto, because I can control better the power output, and don't have the danger of the computer to reduce a gear.

Actually, I can't drive in GT using auto now, it makes me feel that there is "something" missing.

Yup I totally agree, I wasted the first 3 GT's using automatic. I'm so glad I switched to manual in GT4. I can't stand automatics in real life and I dunno how I put up with it in Gran Turismo.

I started wiyh auto. Then I found THIS sight and watched the FBI videos. WOW!!! I did not know that half this stuff was possible with a manual tranny. So, I started to use the manual to finish up my gold license tests. That is how I started to use manual tans and it is WAYYYYYYYYYY better I think. I did drift for about 4 months in auto though first to get used to the movement of the cars and stuff.

Manual shifting and DFP is my choise. Rarely, when using some US cars, I try automatic gears.. But after a while I change back to manual gears, and what a relief it is.

Learn to drive or eat my tire dust you automatic suckers!!!!!!!!!!

BTW those little black tire particals are hard to get off of you and out of your hair too. So keep your windows up after I pass you sideways at 100+ or you'll be covered in 'em!!!!!

ROTFLMAO

Manual for me, I just realize how dependant I had become on it after my gt4 save data got COURPTED:crazy: and I had to start from **scratch**, of course the game is default mph unit, automatic transmission you know the drill needless to say auto doesn't,make good use of engine rev (rpms) shifting to early (up & down unfortunately *sigh* anywho you best bet is manual not all that hard to learn with tripple reward. :sly: 👍 (incase you were wondering I think the skyline GTS-t is the best starter car all the great looks of the R32 with the FR layout of a silva.)

Manual for me all the way. I have become too comfortable drifting manual. I feel like I have more control of what is going on when I drive manual.

Hey everyone i was wondering when you guys go out and drift do you like to drift with auto or manuel, me personally i drift with manuel its better for me i find it kind of weird with a auto cause i still hit the L2 and R2 buttons on accident

so share if you wish

strickly manuel, cause i find myself doing the same thing you do, its annoying.

It would suck to be automatic, some turns I cant drift through unless I am upshifting or downshifting the start the drift, or shifting during it to pull me through..

OMG... they should never had invented the automatic transmission. Its a shame to everybody that drives it... lol

That's a rather narrow view of the world, isn't it?
They certainly have their place. Just not necessarily in motorsport.

Think for a second - where would the modern mass production CVT's, dual-clutch and direct-shift semi-automatic transmissions developed by Daimler-Chrysler, Borg-Warner, and others be without the knowledge gained through developing automatic gearboxes first. Nowehere, that's where.

^ When I lived and worked in Washington DC, I thanked god I drove an automatic, esp after I had to drive my z to work, my left foot about fell off and I about got out of the car and went crazy. Traffic on 95 is no joke.

Anyways, does anyone in D1 or Formula D use an auto?(alittle off topic..sorry)

The funny part is that in stop and go traffic, a stick is better. Stop and go traffic is very rough on automatic transmissions. That's why every autoshop in cities does brakes and transmission work. ;)

BL, auto DOES have its uses in motorsports. just not for many. alot of high hp single digit street legal drag cars use auto. alot of 7-9 sec supras use auto, its more consistant on the strip. but besides that, it doesnt have many uses in motorsports. its kind of like ABS in a way. its useful, but your not in complete control of your car.

BubbaDrift's El Camino uses an automatic. besides that, i dont know of anyone else who uses it.

I can use either i somtimes use manuel but i do alot better with automatic. Actually i usally use automatic on :) the more long courses and manuel on the tighter courses so i can shift down cause somtimes your going through a tight radius turn in 3rd gear and your rpm's drop to about 1,300rpms and your stuck going slow waiting for the game to shift for you sdo i use manuel on tighter courses and automatic on the wider radius of corners tracks.
