No. Unless someone has glitched one. That's why many people have backups.

So the game automatically saves (?)

Yes, it even tells you when its doing it.

I love autosaving because I've become so reliant on it on other games I would never remember to save anything and I'd still be driving round in my MX-5.

So the game automatically saves (?)

And usually in the process it wastes time (especially GT5), and possibly save data for no reason/against the player's wishes.

I'm perfectly able to save the game myself when saving is actually necessary or wanted. An option to turn off useless autosave would be welcome.

I would be more than happy if there was such an option, to turn on/off auto-save, it takes too long.
I wish there was in all games such an option.

You know, the one day that the power cuts and you haven't saved for 6 hours, then you'll be the one making a thread here complaining about it.

It's there to "stick" our "decisions" to us.
The anarchy of no autosave would be people opening tickets and not keeping their cars, sending gifts and restarting the game to keep what they sent, buying cars and driving them, deciding they don't like them and simply going back to where they were before the autosave...

It would be just like it is now.

My issue is also the waste of time, I purposely don't buy cars because the more you buy, the longer it takes the billion times it autosaves for me.

But the original design of this game was pretty much to stuff everything in players faces, whether a crappy car purchase due to not being allowed to test drive, getting your 5th Ford GT '69 racecar from a ticket, or whatever else happens in the game that's just annoying, they literally wanted everyone to just "deal with it".

Incorrect.
One, that's a grand assumption
Two, I'm not careless

And all of that is fine. Autosave also doesn't stop it, like you said.

You know, the one day that the power cuts and your game data is corrupt because it was autosaving again, you'll be the one making a thread here complaining about :)

I'm all for options, maybe not to turn autosaving off, just to reduce it's frequency...i HATE the first bloody auto save JUST because the damn game has given me museum cars and paint chips...things I don't even want!! And to add to that I have to WAIT even longer before I can start playing.....or when I go into a menu by mistake and have to wait before quitting, only for the damn game to auto save and delay me even more!!

You know, the one day that the power cuts and your game data is corrupt because it was autosaving again, you'll be the one making a thread here complaining about :)

Now, honestly, which of the two scenarios is the most likely?

Given how often GT5 saves, probably corruption. The last time I forgot to save (not just games, but files on the computer, etc) was so long ago I can't even remember.

As a matter of fact, I never forgot to save in GT4, but autosave did corrupt my save. I never forgot to save after the second play through either. And if you're thinking I don't like autosave because of GT4, I disliked autosave before I got that game.

Mine hasn't been corrupted once, I've played it almost constantly since relase. But your point is there.
