Hey guys, so, today was my first day of autocross with www.casc.on.ca.
I had a *HUGE* amount of fun. I'm really curious now, how many autocrossers there are on GTP.
Anyways, I found a video of one of the competitors just now. Link
This is the Twin Lakes Motor Club event, in Barrie, Ontario, Canada, at the Barrie Molson Centre. I am in this video @ 1:16-1:29, in the red Hyundai Accent. I know, it's not the fastest car in the world, and it's 16 seconds slower than the camera car... BUT IT'S FUN ENOUGH.
Regrets: not bringing suntan lotion.
Experiences: My first time was a 79 second run.
I also made a huge mistake and that time was DQ'd anyways. But, my last run (8 runs, with one re-run because of a timing glitch) was a 67 second run! That's a 12 second improvement. And, I'm only 18, so I haven't been driving full sized cars too long (about half a year, never in competition before.)
Learned: the list's too long, guys. The first thing I learned (at the cost of my spine,) was that 40 psi is best for street tires, to avoid running over the sidewall, though, I swear I still did, regardless... So, I borrowed a very friendly man's manual tire pump, and did the work by hand. I'm attending college to become an Automotive Service Technician (mechanic,) though, so I enjoyed learning about it. There's not much to upgrade in H-stock (my class) within the SCCA Solo2 restrictions, so I can't swap *anything* at all. So, my "expertise" would simply go to repairs.
Did well: didn't hit a single cone all day! There shall be no orange on the red Accent!
Anyways, as per always, anyone's welcome to post, whether you are the world's best Autocrosser, or you've never done it. Feel free to discuss anything relevant.
I did a search, and I found nothing, so, I don't think there are any other Autoslalom threads.
