News from gamesradar.com (in full):

"It appears as if the release of Gran Turismo 4 is now even further away than we had feared, with an autumn on-sale date now looking likely.

The hugely-anticipated racer was originally due out late last year but was then put back to spring 2004. In January, Sony admitted that a June/July release was more probable but, at a press event yesterday, the company revealed that the game's projected release is now the autumn.

Sony also confirmed that the game's online mode will support up to six players and that online communities will be created around the racing in order to allow players to chat with one another. The game will also support the 40GB PS2 hard drive - which is out next month in the US, although we're still waiting on confirmation of a UK release date - but it's not clear at present what additional features will be enabled by using it."

HDD support is the best thing that could happen to the GT4 game, and I just can't imagine all the features that will become available due to practicaly infinite memory space (scratches on cars, tyre marks on tracks, replay editing, data management...). This is far the best news about GT4.

Sweet and nice, bad for further delay though...

crap i tell you its all crap! im gonna grow grey hairs on my balls by the time this game comes out!:banghead:

Growing grey hair on your balls will indeed happen sooner than Gt4 will be released

But wouldn't that be the same as the PS2 HDD anyway?

Me's has a few 40gb drives spare.

Heh, i'd have to buy a network adapter that I won't use untill GT4 comes out, er when i'm about 80 years old or something.

So how does the hdd plug in? does it have it's own ata and molex power thingy?

I might just do it to be cool and say at least my PS2 has a HDD in it. :odd:

There's Molex Power and ATA thingies on the Network Adapter. But they're fixed, so you have to have a HDD where the power and ATA plugs are spaced as they are on the NwA... An old(er) IBM did the trick for me...

I have a Japanese copy of Pro Evolution soccer, in the options menu it has HDD and Network adapter greyed out. hmm hmmm.

Older, 80gig? Can't be that old.

whats so bad about HDD support? it hopefully will add more to the game. wouldnt you rather have more if you had the chance? and dont say its delaying the game, cuz you dont even know that.

Obvious case of the kettle calling the pot names...

The best improvement they could ever do to the entire GT line up, now and in the future, is to actually release one on time.

I'd take a delay over bugs any day of the week. Doesn't mean I have to like it though....

I am a huge GT fan, maybe not as big as some here, but a why dont they give a release date? I dont care if its two years away. I just want to know. If they get it finished early, great but at least we have a time frame. Right now the game has been delayed indefinately. We get a quarter of release then it changes.

Clearly they don't want to tie themselves down to anything.

I know in the past I've said "good things come to those who wait." Well, I'm 21 years old, and I feel like I'm 10 years old when I say "I WANT GT4 NOW! (crying)"

Well, I'm not crying literally. Now when I hear about delay after delay, it would tick off even the most hardened GT fan (preferably, you). Who knows? Polyphony Digital may get the licensing rights to Ferrari and Porsche, and that means more cars, however, time to actually model, give physics to, sound bytes, and in other words, Fall 2004 will most likely be Holidays 2004, or if things get sluggish, Winter 2005. However, all I can do about it is wait. But I have school, so I can't divert my attention to gaming and school.

There's nothing to do but tough it out. We wont get to play GT4 until Thanksgiving, I'm guessing.

Guys,I think when we first play GT4 we'll all be glad that we waited. The first 10-20 minutes of play we wont know where to look there will be so much to do so many modes of play,so many tracks, soooo many cars. :)

I will most likely do what i did in GT2, go through ever car company and look at every car...any one else that did this?

Yeah,I'll most likely look through the dealerships (used as well) wonder how long that will take? Then choose my first ride, probably a Datsun P510
