Unless someone here at GTP can help then there's basically nothing left to do but abandon the whole idea. :(

Everyone wants to get paid to do the mods, which is understandable - but how in gawds name am i supposed to pay them???

:). I change my from my Stewie avatar back to my old Skyline avatar. Reason? Bahbo had a stewie avatar! :(

I like pretty pictures.

I change my avatar every month or so. It really depends on how often I check the boards. I haven't had much time lately though, so I've had my Stargate avatar for a while. I like it. :)

Avatars are useful for finding posts in a thread - it's easier to look for a picture than read the text. I change mine every couple of months or so; otherwise I forget which one mine is, and lose whereabouts in a thread I've got to. I use it as a sort of bookmark; if I've posted, it means I've gotten so far through the thread, so all I have to do is look for my avatar and read on from there.

I second that reason because that's exactly what I do to find a post.👍:)

To me, the avatar is a tool to be used in conjunction with your signature and title to express aspects of your personality. Duke uses it to convey his mood (to an extent), Milefile uses it to share images that mean something to him, Bastige and Klos use it to show their sports affiliations and Famine, random British blokes :D

I see the avatar as an identifier. Change it too often and your identity changes with it. Keep it - ala DA, Gil, Jordan and M5 - and you establish an identity.

Very well said Mike. 👍

I am the only person to post in this thread that does not have an avatar. Well, not right now anyways, maybe by the time you read this, I will have one. I don't want a predefined avatar though. I want to make my own, but I havn't had the time, hence my signature.

By the way, I did make a pretty cool animated avatar using Macromedia Fireworks. The .png file was way too big, so I exported the file as a .swf. This is THE BEST type of file for an animation, but this forum will not allow me to upload it!

If there is anybody out there that can change the allowable file extensions for avatars, add .SWF

I guess some people see it as a picture of themselves, or what they'd like to be. For instance, I see myself as a calm person outside of GTP, who likes being with good friends. That's what I show in my avatar, my favorite character that shares the same attitude.

I went without an avatar for about 8-9 months, then I put this one up. In a way it's a statement about me, I prefer brunettes.

I want to see the return of pako's meat flap!

and who could forget those dreadful things...those penis things with legs...what were they called again? *shudders*

Anyway mine is always skyline related, I might change it soon, just don't know what I want to change it to yet.
