AVI help !!!!

I was running some AVIs through media player 8 on xp pro. I ran 24 episodes of this anime When I got to the last two episodes, media player just reconized them as music files not avis and started their little screen saving crap. Now this normally would make me believe that I have the wrong codec for the episodes, but Ihave downloaded 4 different versions of both episodes that run like this and they do the same thing. I have updated all the codecs, thinking about possibly uninstalling and reinstalling media player at this point, but I feel at this point that is not going to help too much, any suggestions other then getting another Divx player??? which I am going to try that tonight.
 
That's true...now that you mention it, Giles, DivX will do funny things (like what miata13b is describing) if you aren't up-to-date.

There is also another 20 or so widely used Avi codecs which are rampantly used in piracy. Try looking around for some, they are very easy to find.
 
yeah that is what it boiled down to, D'OH - always check the easy things first. *hits self on head* thanks though.
