Having searched around, I've not been able to come up with any reason for why this is happening or any possible solutions, so thought I'd call on your collective wisdom.
Since the last update (1.05) the B-spec mode will freeze, randomly, while my bob is driving around the track. The strange part is that the effect animations (smoke/rain etc) continue, as does the music, but the car is stationary. This will last a few seconds and then the animations and music stop.
The only way to get the PS3 to respond is to hold the power button and force a shutdown.
As hinted at, this was not an issue before the 1.05 update and doesn't seem to effect A-Spec (athough I haven't done much on there recently.)
To add to the confusion, I took the save game away of the xmas break and loaded it on another PS3. Although I only got to try a single championship on this machine... it worked without an issue.
I've tried removing the GT5 data and re-installing and am now at a loss as to what I can do, other than delete my save game and start again.
Any ideas out there?
