Tracks and drivers are chosen randomly. You can choose whether you want to race on short, medium, or long events by right-clicking on the Widget and accessing its preferences.
 
Now I'm getting a lot of this:

Keep it running to see if it works itself out... If it doesn't after 30 minutes, reload the Widget and let me know.

The idea is to get it so that it continues without user intervention. Obviously if it's stuck in that state for a long time, I should try to do something about it, but I want it to be able to work on its own without any help before I start thinking about adding more features.
 
^ Absolutely. On that note, here recently, the app was stuck in RACING phase, when in fact that race had been over for 20 minutes or so. Had to exit server mode, reenter server mode, then reload app in order to continue grinding. First time seeing that hang- will update if I see it again.
 
does it still take all the drivers from friends? after the update?
because thats how i want it.
if it doesn't choose all your friends drivers then I'll stick with the previous version.
 
i race only with two friends so the option of taking all the drivers worked best for me.
the old version is still doing a great job!

people with many friends should be smart enough to set it on 1 driver!!
 
With the new version (0.92) it gets issues with connection all the time. Never had an issue with this with the previous version.

Yonis: with the fact this new widget has 'free up at least 1 driver" how does that work with friends only sharing one driver? will the widget ever select them??

I have lots of friends who only share 1 bspec driver for races as they are using theirs for endurance races all the time...

Did it recover on its own from this series of errors? That's what's important. I can't control what's coming from the server, just how I react to it.

No it didn't.

I reloaded the widget now, the race that was on before has finished.
The widget says "RACE ENDED". But it doesn't start a new race.
Log is:

I'll go back to the old version and see if that still works.

Dang, I haven't saved the previous version, could you post it?

edit: Reloaded the widget again and now it seems to work, I'll let it run 1 race and see if it starts another race when the first has finished.

'Kay, next version will restore the option, hang tight. I will present a warning the first time you select to free up zero drivers however, to educate people on why it's not a good idea to do it unless you know what you're doing.
 
The new version doesn't seem to like me.

If you try Remote Racing using the official interface, is it giving a bunch of errors/very slow to respond?

Which country have you set in the preferences?
 
Iv still got the old version on my laptop.

I downloaded yesterday around 4pm GMT, before the new update.

No problem racing via gran-turismo.com

I have Sweden set as country.

The new widget started one race now, when it finished it didn't start a new. Just give:

It's bedtime for me, so I'm going to leave this running with Sweden set as my country to see if I can reproduce the problems you're having.

Same here, it did one race, and stayed on "race ended" status with no errors. Trying again now.
 
Anybody running this widget on a Samsung TV? I remember mine supports yahoo widget but I never really used them. If it works, you could be watching TV while making sure your races are happening in the background :)

Hey yannc, you added me a least 14 hours ago. You've finally shown up as a friend AND sharing Bobs:) (it was shadowed forever). Still waiting for wylinu to fully show up too. The website is sooooo slow at updating peoples status. :guilty:

I fired up the new grinder half an hour ago. For the first time, all my Bobs were taken so I couldn't host. The Grinder kept trying every 20 to 25 seconds for 12 minutes until one became available and started the race. 👍 Again, great work Yonis. If I'd been trying to grab one of my Bobs back manually, I would've missed it for sure. :)

Here is what I do to have all friends refreshed immediately:
- add friends (while b-spec racing :))
- log off gran-turismo.com and clear cache.
- go back to the my home page on the PS3 so it saves.
- restart the PS3 and run gt5 again.
- log back in to gran-turismo.com

seems to work for me that way.

Hey, the new widget is doing the same for me... happened twice now and i've given it 30min each time before reloading and it doesn't solve itself out.

first time after the 1st race it just hung. the second time it did 3 races before hanging. Each time my internet connection was stable and hadnt lost connectivity.

If it happens again might revert to the old widget and see what happens.
 
I went back to 0.9.0, now after an hour or so it has no issues with running the races at all, 5-6th in a row now working fine.

I will try the latest 0.9.3 in a while.
