B-Spec in GT5

Humm... I think this B-Spec works way different than GT4's Bspec guys.

That's maybe you guys are hating. In this, sometimes depending on the race/car you're on, you need to observe and give the orders to your pilot.

Mine is doing very very well... If I give him a nice equipment (good car, with good power/suspension/tires) he does a good job.

Only once he got stressed on my white CSL and then he spun on the last lap of a race, but it was already 20 secs in front, so that wasn't an issue.

Give the Bob a chance!

Diegorborges, you have the only driver that has EVER been worth a darn! I hate that my driver acts like he's a mix of drunk/the car has no brakes or steering wheel. Some of the time he drives better than I do in A-spec. At other times, I have him on pace down and he slams into a wall, continues to drive into the wall instead of backing up, then resumes racing after about 10 seconds of complete idiocy. I tell my driver to pace down about 90% of the time, and he still drives like he's running from the cops. Want to trade me drivers?:sly:

I have been playing a-spec and started b-spec last night. All of the cars i let my driver use now drive like garbage.

Is this a glitch or does it change the car settings drastically????

Huh?

You're saying that your Bob is wrecking your cars while racing them and that they stay damaged?

I'm loving B-Spec mode and I have 4 drivers so far.
It would be great if we could race our B-Spec drivers against each other online.

I let my guy drive a lightly tuned(all weight reductions, 80% engine upgrade(no Turbo upgrade), sport suspension Cappuccino and he was able to win the Sunday Cup, Compact car, and K-Car trophy. One thing I noted is that the tires for B-spec races are fixed to Sports Hard for those(as in, its the best you can use), if you don't have that, the game will default you to comfort(hard or medium, whatever is the default crap tires). I even managed to have the guy win 2nd place in one of the race at Cape Ring despite spinning out twice, dropped to 8th, and caught back up to 2nd and lost by 2 car length.

One thing though, the AI driver slows down dramatically if you don't constantly tell him to pace up and overtake. And since every command have a time limit you have keep telling him to do that...There is a gauge at the bottom that shows Cool ------ Hot. When its in the cool area he slows down and relaxes....and I guess he'll make more mistake and use more strength in fully Hot mode.

I don't like B-spec but since its hard to make money in this game I guess whatever gives me more money I have to use...I wish there are more documentation for B-spec mode though, nothing really is mentioned in the manual or the book that you get for Collector's Edition...

OK I have to ask a dumb question because I'm at work: is there any further explanation about the B-Spec "controls" in the game's on-disc manual? I know the included print version said to reference the on-disc manual for anything that wasn't fully covered in the print manual.

I think you may be on to something, Racing Maniac. Maybe all this time I've been giving my driver so much car that I can easily handle, but since my driver starts out as a complete moron and not set in my own self image, he's unable to handle what he's given. I guess I'll try using a moderately upgraded car that would be nearly impossible to over drive and see how things go.

Racing Maniac is exactly right. My level 14 B-Spec driver can only now handle fast cars like the Mazda 787 race car, and he makes me tons of money in the expert races.

I set out to try the B-spec mode. With the mantra: "It takes a Finn to win", I finally found a guy named Kimi Mäkinen. That guy was ice cool and sounded fast: half F1, half rally. Being a real sugar daddy I put him in a brand new Lambo with 720+bhp and send him off to the Sundays Races...

He is only number two into the first corner and gets stuck behind a Opel Tigra. I shout to him to overtake that hairdresser-car, but instead he just bangs into it in every corner over and over again. You would thing that almost tripple the amount of horsepower, 4WD, and soft racing tires should mean something... but no. He ends up as number two, wins a couple of thousand and I have to pick up the repair-bill of 197 000 Cr... Ouch! This B-spec mode is expensive stuff...

I've tried many different car combos even ones that would annihilate the competition but I noticed a few things. One is that is some of the races, there is at least one car that is unnaturally fast to what it is. One race on Daytona half the cars were doing 30mph+ over their limit while in the front not drafting anything. The B-spec driver has no idea on how to pass other cars unless on a straight line (even sometimes has a hard time with that). Instead of passing the car, the driver either paces the cars or rides their a** but never passes, while sometimes being passed himself. It does not accelerate as fast as the car should even thought the HUD shows him flooring it(not spinning tires either).

I just hooked my driver up with the DN-X Concept '02 and the 4 wheel drive launch off the start sealed the deal. He passed everyone before the first corner and then slowed his pace for the win.💡

For anyone who completed the B-SPEC Amateur truck race. >
How did you win it? I can barely get better than 10th with my 450hp 1200kg RAM1500. He's a level 11

At lower levels, your b-spec driver doesn't have the skill to complete the truck races (especially daytona). I fully modded a f150 lightning and he still was in the back of the pack.

I took him back later once he was lvl 15 (I skipped that series entirely), he took Daytona at full throttle the entire time...

I don't feel like making a new thread about the totally useless B-Spec mode, which brings me to my question; Do you have to compete in B-Spec races in order to reach 100%?

GUYS:

One huge tip: Always make sure you have the highest allowed tyres! S1 over C3 makes a HUGE difference to how Bob drives the car.

I just discovered, although some of you probably already know this, that if you press 'Select' while your B-Spec driver is racing, you can jump in the cockpit (premium cars) or change the view. It makes watching the B-Spec race a little more interesting.

Does anybody know how i get my B-Spec driver´s career to improve? I have two drivers, one at level 15 and one at level 4. Their career progress is almost identical, one should think my level 15 drivers career would be at a higher level?!?

Does damage to cars in B Spec carry over to A Spec Mode?

My B Spec driver was trashing the hell out of one of my premiums last night. Visible damage all over the place

A point just mentioned is very important, make sure you have the correct tyres fitted, majority of my 6 losses occurred for that reason. 52 wins so far!

B-spec is excellent for me at the moment. With my hand in a cast and not being able to use the controller. I'm pretty much just using B-spec to get my through the game. and get money and cars.

My B-spec Bob is at lvl 23 at the moment, about to go onto level 24

I can see a definite improvement in my drivers performance in the Ferrari California from level 5 to level 8 but the following action still stumps me. On eiger nordwand he spins off at the last hairpin and then starts to turn round and recover, fair enough, but then starts to reverse up the hill until a car hit him and got him going in the right direction.

That's some useful info there. I took my guy to the Professional Supercar Race in Daytona hoping he'd win me some easy money in my fully tuned CL Murcielago with 818 HP. I can win the 3 lap A-Spec race with 20 seconds ahead in that car, basically going 350+ kmh all the time. What does Mr. Newman at level 8 do? He slows down to 200 kmh in the curve sections and even breaks to a speed of 220 on the little bend at the start line and comes in last every time - that just sucks. Maybe he's got fear issues, got to send him to an analyst... :irked:
