B-Spec, lol wat?

Am i supposed to sit and watch the AI race?
Or what?
I just select a driver, a really fast car for a specific track level and hit go.
Then i listen to engine sounds in the back until i get tired of it and hit the mute button, then i get free cash after about 5-7 minuets.

What is the idea with this mode exactly?

Yeah... pretty much. Some people enjoy it more than others.

Currently, I have a level 8 and a level 4 driver.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
 
Take the opportunity to other things while B-Spec drives and earns you extra credits and cars, like laundry, cook, eat, make forums posts, pet the dog, dishes, etc., etc.. It's very handy.
 
I actually thought that I would never, ever use the B-Spec mode. Well, yesterday while eating and having a beer I watched the guy race and it was quite entertaining somehow.

At the beginning they drive like crap, I mean absolut crap. It helps to watch it in the tv-cam and not in the chase car view or whatever.

But after a while it is bearable, and seeing him powersliding all over the place with a ridiculously overwpowered car was fun actually.

All in all, nothing that I will spend a lot of time on, but entertaining. Plus its a good way to earn some cash while doing real life stuff.

I am acutally looking forward to letting him drive a couple of races as soon as I finished work. 👍

I guess wives/girlfriends would prefer you play B-Spec then :)
 
It would be -okay- if it was an optional thing, whatever. Making B-spec 50% of the game however is, uhm... yeah you know what I'm thinking.

It is supposed to be a race manager mode. You monitor the race from the pit and communicate with your driver to make him achieve the best possible result in the race. As in real life, making him go at maximum attack all the time will likely not lead to success. Instead, you need to work with him constructively and with a proper strategy to make him win the race.

The fact that most people used it as a computerized driver for long or boring races in GT4 is somewhat misleading on the idea of B-Spec.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to be too interesting, either, but I found myself oddly enjoying the crap out of it yesterday. I do my A-Spec races from the bumper cam, and I rarely watch the replays, so I never get to actually "see" much of my cars (maybe why the premium vs. standard argument hasn't affected me too much). But B-Spec was nice in that I got to see my electric blue RX-8 with the ground effects, carbon hood, and wing workin' its way around the tracks in the Sunday Cup.

Yes, a very good mode to "do other things at the same time", as well. I can get in some casual reading (Motor Trend and the Apex book have been good choices) or some chores while earning credits and obtaining new cars, as well. Only have the 1 driver who's currently at Level 3, but I foresee using this mode a lot more to get cars and credits to help out with A-Spec.

x2...I just use it for money while I have other things to do. Set the driver to race and take the dog outside, take a shower, eat, etc...even if he gets last place you come back and you have more credits than you did before, earned while you werent even there. Multitasking!

It's also nice to watch sometimes, as the Formula 1 season has come to an end and left a void in motorsports that are worth me watching until LeMans next year.
 
My B-Spec driver makes driving my Mustang Mach-1 Fastback look like an art form. It's just plain fun to watch, IMO.
 
B-Spec does seem pretty pointless to me, all the races are much longer than the A-Spec equivilents so sitting and watching would get boring after a few minutes.. the only time I've bothered with B-Spec is when I had it on in the background while doing schoolwork.
 
B-Spec is like the biggest automated cash cow/farmer/plantation worker in the game. Give your driver a ridiculously tuned SuperVeloce for the Professional series races and let it do all the work while you read a book on your Kindle and rake in the money.
 
I am only a level 1 in b-spec, and i really didnt care about it that much, because it was boring.

But now i hear that it is dang near "free" money? I think i have to give this a shot.

"Free" money AND "free" cars. Not to mention I think it's going to be the only place to find the
Kubelwagen
and other cars in the game.
 
I tried, I really did. However, I honestly wont be returning to my B Spec Bob after just one race. I chose the 'retire to Monaco with Eddie Irvine' option for him. Farewell - B.Baginski! lol
 
I miss the 4x Time Accel. I don't need to watch Mr. NoobDriver curbstomp Vitz's with the Evora I let him have the keys to for 5 minutes. Race was over before it even started.

Since the drivers suck to being with, put em in a car that is waaay too good for the Beginners races, let him get a few levels, and from there, it's pretty much free cash and he'll win you some amazing cars.

My driver is infact out here, plucking me a Zonda. And then he'll be over at the Ferrari cup, getting me the F40. And my guess is, a lot of candy after that.

Edit: Also, if there are endurance races in the game... Well.
 
About two hours in B spec you can get a Mazda Furai, an epic and awesome car. Totally worth doing B spec for this. You get it from the Roadster challenge.

Yup, not only is it insanely good to drive, but the B-spec driver also rocks in it.
 
I like to think of it as Pokemon. It's all about levelling your guy up, gaining him experience and making him better along the way.

I mean no one's MAKING you do B-Spec, but you do get some cooler prize cars
 
Can you really just set the race up and walk away, and have your driver win? Or do you need to give him commands during the race? I don't like the idea of just watching an AI driver, but I'd definitely like to get the cars you can get from B-spec.
