So after spending 30 minutes with Playstation's great CS staff I have now come to the conclusion that my game save data is corrupt and that I have lost ALL of my progress and have to start ALL over again.

Why? Well, I was playing a B-Spec enduro and my dorm had a power outage. After this power outage I am unable to participate in any race. I can get through 20 seconds of gameplay, then on the dot, the game freezes. A spec, B spec, Arcade, it does not matter. Essentially the game is unplayable.

Luckily I can access the main game menu, so I can at least recover my cars over time... a long time:nervous:. (thank god PD patched the ability to back up our saves).

Which leads me to the whole point of this thread. BACK UP YOUR SAVES! Every week. Hell, every day. Otherwise, what happened to me can happen to you. I have put MANY hours and over 9k miles into this game. All for not. If I had backed up my data, I would not have this problem as the old data would be safe.:ouch:

I know it may seem excessive, but this should be mentioned in some sticky of some form. Or just a PSA. Have a happy holidays...:grumpy:

Just out of curiosity have you tried to back up your save and then try to restore it and then tried to play?

Might want to consider trying a few things, not sure if they will work but its worth trying.

Back up your corrupt save file, then completely delete GTs install data. It is possible that it is in fact corrupt and not your save game. If that fails, try simply saving manually, might write a correct save.

Also I am pretty sure i've seen options to recover corrupt data or something else to that effect under the Utilities section in options, might even want to try clearing the network cache in the network options.

I wish you the best.

Tried all of the above except saving manually. I will give this a shot. Although it probably will not work. At least I will not loose the cars I purchased with money... THANK GOD! It could be a lot worse, like the game not starting at all.

So what is your plan? Create another game save on a different psn and then manually gift all the cars to it?

I am going to back up my save. Delete the current save on my PS3. Start a new save... still under my current PSNID. Transfer the most important cars over time (787B, ZR1RM, etc). And work my way back up. The way I figure it, all these online events will give me 5m credits and 500k exp. That should get me pretty far (lvl 28 to be exact). Then I'll do the special events (which I golded with ease) with my higher level and I will be in the 30's within a week. B-spec is going to be the really bee-otch. I had my guy at something level 27. Obviously, once I get to 25, everything is easy, but its getting there.

Couldn't agree more. I've backed up my save file to multiple storages. Unlike a lot of the people here, I actually worked to level 30 and earned my current X1s. No way in hell that I'd put those to waste.

...until the guy that borrowed my X1 disappeared. Maybe he stole it, maybe it disappeared in the GT5 online internet tunnel. Bastard guy named WZD. Thank god I have two, lol.
