Backfire. (Don't kill me for asking.)

Gt4 is going to be great with or with out Back fire.

For example when you lift gas in WRC car, ignition stops but computer puts fuel in engine and it doesn't burn in motor. It goes to exhaust where it burns and keep turbo's boost higher than it would be without system. The system is featured in all turbo rally cars since ~1984. So running rich is not the only way to do backfires.

I don't think they put backfires in gt4 because there is so many kinds of backfire that if you want do it realistic, you need much more work than when you do realistic driving physics.

For example Renault 5 Maxi Turbo rally -85 car has continuous flamestyle backfire but Audi Sport Quattro S1 rally car -85 have instead Rifle style backfires. Peugeot 205 T16 EVO 2 rally car -85 doesn't do always backfires but sometimes it do. And sometimes there is backfire sound but you can't see flame coming out from exhaust pipe.

So if you try to do realistic backfires in over 650 cars (+ all kinds of variatios) it would take very long time. ;) And is PlayStation 2 able to calculate so many things at same time?

If GTPlanet were a city, I'm sure there would be plenty of cul de sacs and dead-ends. Among them, this one. This is a cul de sac of reverse lights and some other stuff. It gets rather old, but some (lightly laughs) probably don't care to be honest .

By the way, I wonder if you were expecting NOT to get OWN3D by the GTPlanet public, Silvia95. Do you know why? One reason is because this has been discussed on and off before. This especially includes the mentioning of reverse lights. And all we're doing is driving around and around in this reverse light cul de sac. Backfire has been done before in a game I can remember called "Sports Car GT" on the PC and PS1 (PC version is 50 times better). There are other racing games with backfire, but let's stay with SCGT. In the game, cars had backfire when braking, for example. They weren't superiorly dramatic, but were pretty cool, I guess. And the second reason why you're getting bashed on? All you're doing is sparking arguments left and right. I know about getting my ass handed to the Lion's Den on other message boards, so I know what the hell I'm talking about.

If this thread gets shackled up and locked, let it be a lesson in bringing back long-debated topics. Have fun on GTPlanet.

*starts smashing head on desk*

"please god, stop these threads, please"

btw some utter crap said in this thread

"I race first person, so I don't care"

That's no excuse, others cars will have em etc

"If it's not 100%, they won't do it"

Well nothing in the game is 100% anyway, I'd rather have a rough guess then nothing at all, the PD way seems to be "if we can't get it right, give up".

Long arrogant post.

Man people on GTP are (expletives). I'm not even going to begin to write an indepth reason why because it will be ignored and more than likely land me a ban when you wannabe suckup to the moderator types (the ones that say lock EVERY thread) whine and moan about vulgarities or personal attacks on character. Quit acting like you're some kind of "voice of GTP" and just ignore threads you don't like and post in the one or two you do.

I guess discussion isn't what this discussion board is for, apparently it's merely for posting only bran new information, and not having any comments or analysis of it at all. AKA News.

eh ban me.

Listen, I'm not trying to start any thing and this isn't some kind of political movement. All I wanted to know was if there was any NEW news of backfire. And as far as getting bashed, I don't see it happening. As the squidd said, you dont like it... keep it moving. Don't post, simple. Why put something in the old post that not many people will see. But all agruments aside, back to our backfire discussion...

we probably wont know untill gt4 comes out.. but whats weird is that iin just about any type of racing you will see flames shoot out of the exhaust pipe once in a while.. but never in the gt4 videos.... :dunce: I'm happy RBR has it which is a uber sim.. but GT4 should have it... maybe they are currently working on it... but all we have are speculations... we dont even have any verified pics... :indiff: And this post makes me a gold member :) HOOAH!!!

Sure , brand new information
Some people posting things from 2 month back. C'mon!

Jeebus d00d. Say Jeebus instead.

For those who ask questions with out doing research themselves. This is the image that sparked a lot of controversy.

I don't know what to say about it. Why don't we all just wait until GT4 is released, before we try to kill eachother. Threads like these get people banned and tempers flare. I'm asking you to all shake hands and............. Get along maybe. Think about this. The "Guests" are probably p!ss!ng themselves laughing at you because you guys are making yourselves look like D!cks.

lol, everyone just keeps saying the same stuff over and over in all these gt4 threads.. take a look at what i said earlier..

I never thought Id see a nick 'DeltaS4'.....Im a BIG fan of that car. Its acutally my all time favorite car....Too bad about Group S eh? Would have been badass to see the ECV on the stages.

code_kev if you are going to quote at least get the quote right.

Uncle Harry (me) SAID "I drive first person so I wouldn't see mine." and not what you typed. Sometimes the utter crap you speak off is actually meant as utter crap.
Getting flamed in a backfire thread. Priceless.

Back fire should definately be included but only on highly tuned road cars/race and rally cars.
A road going of the McLaren F1 causes back fires too but I dont want to see it on a standard VW beetle.

Oh... YOU'RE one to talk arrogance, Code. What part of "get off my ass" don't some of you udnerstand? If you were a Moderator, GTPlanet would burn straight to Hell (like my life). And you want to ban crap? I ban you from being self-centered and insensitive. Least you can do is present yourself as a gentleman on here. All of us have our opinions and there is a such thing as polite disagreement. So if you don't like what I talk about or how I do things around here, ignore me. You have an Ignore List. Good God. Quit reminding me of my AOL Chatting days. I've dealt with one too many assholes before coming to GTPlanet. The least you can do is give me a chance here.

I don't know if there's going to be backfire. The game is done, so we'll see when it hits stores. If there's no backfire, I won't complain. No reverse lights? I won't complain. If the racing is nothing like past GTs, THEN I'll complain. It would be nice to have these features, but we have no real basis for judgment on this. I'm going to stop here so you can make fun of me, tick me off, lobby to lock this thread, I don't care. Do what you want.

And oh yeah, whatever happened to just having fun and being yourself on here? Has it died, or are we encouraged to go at each other nowadays?

It's all part of the Greater Internet ****wad Theory:

Normal Person + Anonymity + Audience = Total ****wad.

And yes, there are quite a few of those folks right here on GTP.. it's unavoidable. Me, I'm pretty much the same online as I am in real life. In some ways, I'm much nicer online.. I tend to take much less **** in person.

JohnBM01 - GTP is now starting to take the path that everyday people are. Everyone is trying to be cool. They don't care who they tread on to get it. Everyone seems to have forgotten their roots. They are sellouts.

I only want backfire for the Rally cars. I would like for high powered racing cars, the flame when braking. All of the excess fuel in the exhaust system being burnt. That flame. V8 Supercars have this.

TheSquidd
Well I guess I'll do what I do to people like that in real life then, ignore em.
People. Listen to this man. You may infact learn something. It will defy the laws of science, but every so many millenia, changes do occur and the books have to be rewritten.

uncle harry, my quotes were meant to sum up what quite a few people had said before, if you had a brain that wasn't hampster driven, you'd realise that.

Oh... YOU'RE one to talk arrogance, Code. Wha *nods off* ZZZZZZZZzzzzzZZZZZzzzZZZ *wakes up* Do what you want.

I shall do what I want sir!

I'm quite a reasnable person (SHOCK HORROR), but when presented with such pretentious crap, I can't help but say something, and John, you are the LORD of typing crap. 600+ words of per post. Oh well, it makes the forums funnier at least.

Anyway, backfire, yes please.

" We at PD are sorry, the ps2 simply couldn't handle the extra lighting element needed for backfire" ;) I'm allmost waiting for them to say that lol

"Gran Turismo 5: The Real Backfire Simulator".

....and i thought they had really important reasons!!! :grumpy:
what about the PEOPLE who would say: "hey there´s backfire in GT4!!! :dopey: "???...what about those???

Code you just have to realize that you are reading people's opinions, and no matter how wrong they seem to you, they are not wrong. The best way for you to try and get someone to agree with your ideas is to discuss it cordially, and do all those things we learned to do in kindergarten (share, play with blocks, make hand turkeys, make sand castles in the sandbox etc). Harassing people for their ignorance does not serve any purpose. Every single person is ignorant, if you claim not to be then you are calling yourself omnipitant. If you think you are omnipitant than you think you are some sort of god. There is only one test for omnipitance, here goes. "Code how many fingers am I holding up?"

This post is kind of pointless because I know that you, code, know everything I have said, and in real life you abide by those guidelines. I'm just trying to emphasize that you should be easier on members who are less opinionated, or who know a bit less than you.
