Hello there.

I've just notice something strange wen palying the new seasonal event with my ZR1.
Wen i use the wheel whit cluth the car backfires wen i upshift but it dont backfire wen i downshift. On the DS3 it only backfires wen i downshift.
Can someone explain. Is this a bug or it's normal?

In the interest of science, I tried this out..

It has produced flames when I up shifted and down shifted (G27 using clutch)

No flames on up shift when I used the paddles or the shifter with no clutch.

Though Im not entirely sure whether this was new after the recent update.

Did you just censor downshift?

I think the backfire graphical effects are rubbish in GT5. In GT4 the backfires were actually animated and looked reasonably believable, but in GT5 they seem to have a single frame of animation and appear for a split second.

Well , in real life they only appear for a brief moment. There is way more than one frame of animation as well.

Whaaa? I think they are fantastic in GT5.

Also backfire on the upshift > backfire on the downshift. Clutch FTW. :sly:

The backfire occurs much more frequently with the 2.02 update.

ya, I think it's much more frequently now compare to when the game first came out.

In my experience the backfire has been slightly erratic across a range of cars going up and down the gearbox (this with a DFP paddle shift and stick).

You car backfires(or ignites unburned fuel that exits the exhaust creating a popping sound) when you over rev while upshifting using the clutch, it doesn't happen with automatic nor sequential shifting because both of these cut the throttle before disengaging the clutch and before you can get throttle the clutch must be engaged with both auto and sequential shifters...so neither should produce backfire when upshifting.

I can attest that you can cause many cars to back fire continuously, the Alfa Romeo 555 Race car can do it all day just by revving the engine, fully press the throttle and release, then as the rev drop back to idle, do it again and it will back fire. You can do it faster and will net the same results but the other way it's pretty much going to happen every time. Now doing it with clutch on upshifts just hold the gas while you are about to disengage the clutch, off the gas briefly while you shift and release the clutch while going fully on the gas, you will over rev then backfire. Pretty nice, to see especially when you are really pushing your car and are hitting your marks :).

I agree, some of the pictures I've seen are nothing short of awesome. 👍

I've had the same deal when shifting fast with the G27, your not alone.
