Backmarkers move over?

I was racing in the Super GT Fuji 10 lap race in the extreme series and when I lapped all the other AI drivers they all moved out of the way. It can't have been a fluke because they were all way past the racing line. Anyone else experienced this? All we need now are blue flags lol.

With all the talk about how bad the AI is, has anyone compared the AI in early races / low A-spec level to later races / high A-spec level? I'd imagine there would be a significant difference, including driving line strategies and maneuvering other cars.

How dumb does AI have to be to ram into the back of me and keep their foot firmly planted on the gas? I'm srue they still do that in Extreme series...

Well, they do it in expert anyways :) This is my greatest problem with this game. The AI just... well, there are a lot of threads about this...

Apparently, on the positive side:

Backmarker definitely moves out of the way when I was running the Grand Valley 300 race...

That's really nice!

No but I've seen B-Spec Bob in the Formula GT events lap backmarkers and not only would they not move over and instead put up a fight, they proceeded to unlap themselves when I told Bob to decrease pace.

I have this even worse in b-spec where I get stuck behind a backmarker and have to use the overtake button and get right off the racing line to overtake him. GRRR it really anoys me especially as they seem to let all the other driver through no problem.

I've found the a.i. in the SuperGT series to be about the best so far. I was using the IS350 touring car so it was a pretty tight race, and the a.i. were definately aware of me, it was nice.

I haven't noticed any backmarkers move over until the SuperGT series, I'm B-Speccing it in the FGT to save time (lapped the entire field by lap 5), and on straight sections they very deliberately move over, or at least did at Fuji and are doing so now at Tokyo R246.

They do, however, refuse to shift if there's a corner coming up a few hundred yards away, so you only really notice it on the long straights on both of those circuits. I haven't noticed it anywhere else, but then I haven't been looking because I've only just seen this thread...!

It's funny how PD got this feature as a bonus, yet they can't get the basic fundamentals right. I mean, in the same race whilst the countdown was going down at the start, the AI driver at the side of me still crashes into my car. It's a good game but what happened to the AI we saw in a gameplay video earlier in the year? (Castrol Tom's Supra CLEARLY avoids a crash, remember?)

I did the 4hour roadster endurance last night. The back markers definitely move over, as do the front markers and the middle markers, whether there's a car behind or not. On every straight they take a line down the middle of the track. The first couple I passed I thought they were getting out my way, till I sussed out the trick.

If you have the racing line on while you do the Tsukaba 4hr they will move away from the racing line as you approach as if to say "Oh... sorry, I know I suck here you go.", but only from the racing line that PD made, which is kinda a bummer.

I've definitely seen them move over in B-spec, and only at professional level, when I gave Bob a Minolta to tackle the 80's Japanese races (I think). The thing is, as much as I could see, they only do it in the straights - which is sort of what happens in a real race - so Bob may still get in trouble in a twistier track.
