Battle Royale
Okay, I just saw this movie a few weeks ago. To be honest, this movie is pretty sickening, but very, very interesting indeed.
From what I got out of it, it was basically about a fictional future in Japan. All the children, or non-adults, boycotted schools and started to not listen to their parents. In response, Japan's government passes this BR Act, which is basically the Battle Royale Act. A group of students are chosen, and they are made to battle for three days until there is only one left standing. If there is more than one person by the end of the three days, everyone dies. Rules are simple. Each student is given rations, basic equipment (i.e., flashlight), and a weapon (ranging from a pot lid to an automatic rifle). They are then left to rome "free" on the secluded island to kill or be killed. Each day, new Danger Zones are announced, where students can be killed by the military just for being there. The necklaces attached to their necks can be blown up by remote to keep them in check, and also works as a positioning device for tracking. A microphone is also fitted onto it. Just as a last note to get you more interested, these are supposed 8th graders, signed off by their parents for BR Act.
VHS/DVD (or download off P2P): Japanese dialogue with English subtitles available. Stars Takeshi (Beat) Kitano as "Kitano".
