Looks like everyone's here.👍 We need to get deciding on race selections for the upcoming vote in two weeks. Everyone plese read over the BC5 rules thread and start thinking up combos that you'd like to see used in the event.:) I'll try and get a thread going soon where we can get everything started in that regard.

been thinking about some races I like.

In no particular order:

1.4.8: long race (10-20 laps) open car selection
seoul central reverse
playstation Pescarolo/Judd C60 '04
arcade-single race
20 laps - NO PIT STOP ALLOWED
tire wear-mild
aids-any
penalty-none
time limit-none
difficulty- any
tires- any combo
power- 0% (794 hp)
weight- -10% (810 kg)
transmission-any
(softs or mediums? smooth or hard charging? how many times do you pass the ai? tough to get this one right!)

1.4.5: dirt/snow- rally car dirt/snow tires
GT mode- Hot lap
dirt and snow-Ice arena normal
Focus rally car '99
mods allowed- snow tires, increase rigidity stock 304 hp
no oil change
(tough to get clean. cool to drive!)

1.4.1: road course- race car and tires
gt-mode
professional events, tuning car gp
5 laps @ Tsukuba
BMW 320i touring car
mods allowed-stage 3 NA tuning 327 hp, any tire combo, increase rigidity
no oil change
race has between 85-95 aspec points
(i've finished anywhere from 5-12 secs. ahead of ai, but they are really pesky first few laps, so have had final time swings of 10 seconds! where can you pass?)

1.4.10: arcade road course-arcade race car
time trial-hot lap
LeSarthe 2
Mazda RX-8 LM concept race car '01
hp- +20%
weight- -10%
everything else open
(We are running under GTRP rules. Right? So curb cutting is ok?)

1.4.2: road course- street car, sport tires
arcade-single race 5 laps
El Capitan-reverse
Mercedes McLaren SLR
tire wear off
tires- any sport combo
difficulty +5(really tough to verify. I know.)
hp -20%
weight -10%
(pit stop required on lap 3)
(ran the SLR for 200 mile endurance race. way cool!)

And.....a BMW M3 CSL really should run at the Nurb, but that is definitely NOT my track! What might be cool for a wildcard would be a hotlap at the Nurb with ANY M3 street car limited to 350-400hp.

And if I were to pick a favourite, it would be the RX-8 at LeSarthe. :)

I don't know what GTRP rules are, but BC5 rules are the standard "no more than 2 wheels off the pavement, and the pavement includes curbs/rumblestrips".

I don't know what GTRP rules are, but BC5 rules are the standard "no more than 2 wheels off the pavement, and the pavement includes curbs/rumblestrips".

Sorry Duke. I should be more clear. :)

http://db.granturismo.de/rules.php

The section of the rules I am questioning relates to the relatively new one where tarmac beyond curbs is considered part of the track. This comes into play especially at LeSarthe where extreme curb cutting is now acceptable to a considerable portion of the OLR world. We have used this rule in WRS, (sometimes) and as you can see, GT.de accepts it for their db.

The following instances belong to the track:

Tarmac
Curbs
Sidewalks
Any kind of rumble strip made of concrete, stone etc (see Nurburgring Nordschleife)
Tarmac or any other kind of road mentioned above that's situated beyond curbs
Tarmac partially covered with dirt or sand (see El Capitan)

not belonging to the track are:

Meadows
Grass/Rough
Soil
Gravel/Safety Zones

If some drivers are staying 2 wheels on track which to me has always meant on the curb and not beyond, and some are driving using the tarmac beyond curbs rule, there will be a huge time difference especially on LeSarthe.

Did a little playing around, mostly with N tires and trying to drift :)

Wow I didn't realize that wold be so fun! Thought it would be impossible to decide between all those courses and cars but those are the ones that came to mind.
I tried to find really hard combos that would really give the driver a test while at the same time making it enjoyable. Only the best for the best! :dopey:
I pretty much prefer arcade mode, time trial/hot lap races over multiple lap races.

PS: Are we allowed to suggest N1-3 tires as well instead of only sports?

i really have no idea what combos are good or not... i just like to race em

but i will give it a shot to mayb come up with some ideas

Alpine
PS: Are we allowed to suggest N1-3 tires as well instead of only sports?
Well, last year's organizer insisted on having a Simulation Tire (GT3) race against the protests of about 99% of the competitors, and it led to a lot of arguing. You can suggest one, but I wouldn't expect it to get voted for.

OK eveyone here are the 10 categories and complete rules for the races. Please choose a category that you'd like to make a combo for, and post which one it is. First come, first serve. 👍

1.0 RACE SERIES

1.1: The BC5 competition will consist of a series of 10 Rounds. Each Round will be a single race or fast lap Scenario. The Scenarios will be divided into categories by Car Type, Course Type, Race Type, and/or Race Length, or a combination of these criteria.

1.2: Each Team will submit Proposals for all 10 Scenarios.

1.3: Each Round Scenario will be selected from the Proposals by popular vote among the Teams. Teams are prohibited from voting for more than 3 of their own Proposals. Teams will vote for their 10 favorite Proposals. The Wild Card Proposals (see 1.4.18 below) will be grouped in an 11th category. Any Team voting for a Wild Card Proposal may not vote for one race from one other category. If the Wild Card selection receives more votes than the least popular single Scenario, the Wild Card race will be substituted for that Round.

1.4: Proposal Categories are determined as follows (subject to revision):

1.4.1: Road Course – Race Car, Race Tires
1.4.2: Road Course – Street Car, Sport Tires
1.4.3: Street Course – Race Car, Race Tires
1.4.4: Street Course – Street Car, Sport Tires
1.4.5: Dirt / Snow Course – Rally Car, Dirt / Snow Tires
1.4.6: Wet Course – Car selection open
1.4.7: Long Course (Nurburgring/Le Sarthe) – Car selection open
1.4.8: Long Race (10-20 laps) – Track and Car Selection open (Nurburgring/Le Sarthe, Wet, Dirt, or Snow Tracks excluded)
1.4.9: Arcade Rally – Arcade Rally Car
1.4.10: Arcade Road Course – Arcade Race Car

1.4.11: Race Length: All Scenarios above will be run in either Short Race (2-5 laps) or Hot Lap (single fast lap on open track; no AI) format except the Long Race. Proposals shall indicate the format for each Scenario. It is the intent of these rules that races shall be 5 laps or less, except Long Races, which are 10 or more laps. Sprints and enduros require different strategies and this rule is intended to reflect that. However, Proposals for races 6-9 laps in length will be accepted.

1.4.12: Car Selection: All Scenarios shall use GT4-standard cars and tunings. Proposed cars must be available in all released local versions of the game (NTSC/PAL etc). Any and all hybrids are prohibited. Preference is given to cars that are purchasable; however, 100% all-car game saves are available for download in the event that a given Scenario uses a car available only as a prize.

1.4.12: Car Preparation: All Scenarios except Arcade Mode may include specified modifications, tunings, or setups. Proposals shall indicate list of car modifications or settings (if any) specified. Proposals shall indicate whether a virgin Oil Change is permitted or excluded.

1.4.13: Tires: All Scenarios except Arcade Mode may include a specified Tire and Tire Wear option (on or off). Proposals shall include this information.

1.4.14: Driver's Aids: Unless specified by the Scenario, Driver's Aids settings are at the discretion of the Driver.

1.4.15: Controllers: Controller and automatic/manual transmission choices are at the discretion of the Driver.

1.4.16: Drivability: Race Teams are advised to check the suitability and drivability of their Proposals before submitting them. Teams are also advised to check each Proposal before voting for it.

1.4.17: All Race Scenarios are to be run without Qualifying for position.

1.4.18: Wild Cards: In addition to the 10 Scenarios above, each Team may submit (at their discretion) a Wild Card Proposal. This is to allow teams a chance to make up their own scenario, and to allow a substitution in case one category proves unpopular. If this rule is deemed too complicated, it will be removed.

1.4.19: Arcade/GT Mode: It is the intent to have a minimum of 2 Rounds be held in Arcade Mode with fixed settings. The other rounds will probably be GT Mode due to greater flexibility. However, Teams may submit Arcade Mode proposals for any other Rounds they wish. These will be then be subject to popular vote along side the GT Mode proposals.

1.5: After Proposals have been received and compiled, adjustments will be made to avoid duplicating Track and Car selections. Adjustments will be made by consensus of Teams and BC5 administration.

1.6: Points will be awarded to each Team/Driver per Round as follows:

1st: 30 pts
2nd: 27 pts
3rd: 25 pts
4th: 23 pts
5th: 21 pts
6th: 20 pts
7th: 19 pts
8th: 18 pts
9th: 17 pts
10th: 16 pts
11th: 15 pts
12th: 14 pts
13th: 13 pts
14th: 12 pts
15th: 11 pts
16th-25th: 10 pts -1 pt each place

Fastest Time Of Day (FTOD) Bonus: +2p (Hot Lap Scenarios excluded)

1.6.1: Championship: The Team standings will be indicated by the largest number of accumulated points per Team. In the event of ties, the Team with the largest number of 1st and/or 2nd place finishes will be declared the Champions.

Id like to take the long course....

But i suddenly feel inadequate to select from here...
anybody want to hold my hand while i choose?

We are able to discuss the fact that i picked totally the wrong car combo if thats what people feel, arent we?

I would like to use the BMW M3GTR Race car around the Nurb, with Super Soft tyres on it.

What else do i need to say in this submission?

I'd like to take a stab at picking out 1.4.1: Road Course - Race Car/Race Tires, though I will undoubtedly come back with a few combos in mind and ask the lot of you for an opinion on them.

There's no reason that each of you shouldn't submit ideas for more than one round; then you guys can pick your favorites for the Team to submit.

Not a thing Vexd. Great choice! 👍 I really think that this car has a good shot at getting chosen as a race because of the history of the M3 at Nurb.

And I think you should drive it too! I think back to your WRS performance with the Audi at Nurb........What else do i need to say? :sly:

Edit: Looking at my best results in WRS, I seem to do ok on road courses with street cars. (1.4.2) So if no one minds, I'll do some retesting on a couple of favorites.

We'll need to know if the car is Arcade or simulation. If sim mode, then what tuning you want for the car. Also what tire type, and how many laps, etc.👍

hi

i'd like to drive a rally car, so i'm going to be doing the 1.4.9 one if thats ok

suggestion: subura rally car at EI captain rally course

id like arcade mode actually, hotlaps, with a full quick tune, and max top speed i think, lemme go home and check, and ill report back.
definitely super soft tyres, cos the cornering speed is awesome then....

thanx for the kind words minor, im gonna go home and see what i think today.....

where's everyone else?

Sounds good...I was hoping you'd like to do the rally since you did so well in the rally race in Week 9 of the WRS.👍 BTW, aren't there 2 versions of the El Capitan Rally track? If so, which one do you prefer...the one with the tarmac section or the one without? And would you like Arcade mode or Sim mode?

Been a little busy lately but I'll start testing things out for the next couple of days. But for now, I'd like to take on:

1.4.7: Long Course (Nurburgring/Le Sarthe) – Car selection open

:D

sorry about that, i should have specified it better

exactly the same as wrs week 9 exept using the subura rally car instead of the hyandi. so in arcade mode.

thats just a suggestion, but i'll definitely b doing the rally one, as i feel i have the best possible chance at winning a rally instead of a tarmac one, although,
i wouldnt mind a combo similar to week 10, where its a slow, high suspension car, where the DS2 really comes in handy

c ya later 👍

I had a go with the M3 GTR race car round nurb, using a 320kph top speed, and roughly, though not entirely cleanly, did well under 6 mins.

Im using full quick tune, racing super softs, and 320 top speed, hotlapping in arcade.

Im thinking about trying the CZ-3 Tarmac rally car around costa later, i'll see how i get on.

I feel, i may have the most popular combo for the BC here with the BM, but i dont think im certain that i should be the one who runs it.

Though nurb is my favourite track, and the one i know best.

👍

Yea, the race selection is going to be separate from the driver assignments. So just because you suggest a race doesn't mean in any way that you'll be required to do it. The best drivers will be chosen for a best fit for each race. Also, no more than 2 of our suggestions will most likely be chosen, so we'll be running 8 or so combos that were chosen by other teams.

It's going to be up to all of you guys to devise the races, so it's in your best intrest that you choose stuff that you like, because at least one or two of our races will most likely be used in the event.👍

And, let me add, you don't have to say which driver is running which race until you submit your times in September. Just that any given driver can only run one race. So you're welcome to have mini-qualifiers among the team to see which driver is best suited for which round.

I made up a little spreadsheet to show all of our race proposals to date. I thought it might make it easier for everyone to see all the proposals seperated by event. Hopefully I didn't miss anyone! :scared:

I'm not a computer whiz, :dunce: so I don't know how to post it so that everyone can see it and add to it if they wish. So here it is in a zip folder. If anyone finds it of value and knows how to make the magic happen, please put it up! :)

EDIT: spreadsheet updated 8/2/05 :)

Thanks Toffe! It was the product of the rare luxury of a rainy Saturday, the house all to yourself, and no responsibilities other than to do whatever the hell you feel like! :p :p

Just a heads-up from me...

I'm not submitting any combinations because I simply don't know enough about the game yet to comment - I'm busy compiling data and racing, which is why I've not submitted in the WRS yet.

Don't mistake this for a lack of interest - I will be finished doing what I have to in GT4 by the end of the month and will be ready to give my all to the BC5 effort.
