Dev team confirmed the most recent update has added the "Gran Turismo 7" HDR and Tone Mapping (the same methods used on GT7, according to them)

Since version 0.39, BeamNG uses a Gran Turismo 7 tone mapping, replacing the previous ACES tone mapper. This updated system is designed to better preserve physically based lighting values while providing more consistent and higher quality results across both SDR and HDR displays.

Why Gran Turismo 7 tone mapping

Traditional tone mapping operators often introduce issues such as:
  • Clipped or washed-out highlights
  • Loss of contrast in bright scenes
  • Color shifting under high intensity
  • Color difference between HDR and SDR output
The GT7 tone mapper avoids these problems by:
  • Working in perceptual color spaces (ICtCp or Jzazbz)
  • Separating luminance from chroma to preserve color fidelity
  • Applying a smooth highlight “shoulder” for natural brightness rolloff
  • Blending per channel and perceptual results for stability

I’ve played this on pc years ago and it’s a good sandbox crash simulator

I hope there will be some substance to it as getting a car and crashing it into a wall will soon get tiresome
I can't understand where the game is for ps5 players. I have almost 1000 hours in the game but there is no structure. The main draw for me is the rls career mode, otherwise it's just picking races and time trials. The handling and crash physics are fantastic but it gets boring doing the same thing over and over. I'm thinking the multiplayer needs to be pretty special for this to work on console without mods.
