I have started to become very irritated by people who put this in their replies. In fact, that's usually the only thing they put in their post. Is there grounds for a report/moderator action for this, or is it just something i have to live with? It's just about as useful as "In before the lock"...👎

Maybe they're referring to our very own, actual RACECAR member?

Precisely!

The few times I've heard it, it's usually in comical reference made towards RACECAR.

Because, well, RACECAR

Typically its not though. someone will ask for clarification, and they're sent to the very annoying website. It's probably just me.

Just let it go. If they're just trying to raise their post count and you see them doing it a lot, then report them. Otherwise, just let it go. :)

You mean like......... Why are there so many useless crying threads in the help desk section?

Because gtp

? :p

It's a parody of the comical circular argument we often use to defend racing; "That's Racing!"

For example, Senna takes out Prost on purpose, BECAUSE RACING. Racecar is uncomfortable and has no soundproofing, BECAUSE RACECAR.

So I don't really see the point of complaining about it if a race car is iconic and all encompassing of our beings; we don't need a fluent sentence to understand racecar. Because racecar. The end.

I found it funny when it was on the funny pics but didn't realise it was being used as a replacement for 'in before the lock'. Don't really understand it too much myself.

Because Shem.

Can someone copy the post Daan was pointing out and post it here? That would be helpfull.

But is it that hard to throw in "Because it's a race car"?

Yes. That's how the meme goes. In fact grammatical malaise is a key part of many memes, including "What is this I don't even?" and "Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?".

The irony is that the corrected versions make no sense at all on the internet.

Yeah, there's a certain element of "welcome to the internet" involved in this thread, but I can understand it being a little annoying after a while. Like most memes, to be honest.

^^
Your avatar will eventually become a meme.

Because Rowan Atkinson.

Great topic. 👍

You should grow a sense of humor! :p

Actually growing a sense of humor would mean having the awareness that all memes grow stale: Technology creates much obsolescence, the latest news is inexorable, tastes change rapidly, fashion goes in all directions at once...why can't a bad joke quietly put itself to bed? It's as if the Internet (which itself has changed a lot over the years) is great for harboring every old joke, and every new user thinks they're the first to post a funnyism.

For once, can't a meme be set to automatically self-destruct in seven days?

But as the original poster asked...if anyone finds someone filling our boards with off-topic tripe, just use the Report Button, and we shall deal with them like any other spammer.

I personally haven't seen it used much to warrant a topic like this. Maybe the OP's experience is different.

Memes get old very quickly. Or at least to me they do... I have a perfectly fine sense of humor, I just don't find the typical "Lets post a picture of a Kitten on the internet and put some really bad English under it. That would be funny" to be funny. In any way. "Be***** R******" falls into that category. Along with the Demotivational posters. Just put them to bed!

But I'm aware it's just a me issue. Although I'm convinced that there MUST be someone else who doesnt like it...
