Compared to GT2 the money system in GT3 can be a little tight. Personaly I liked having 60,000,000 credits to throw around in GT2 but it doesn't look like their's even that much money to be had in GT3. This guide details the fastest way out of the slumps as well as ways to make some serious cash. not to mention earning some sweet rides along the way.

session 1

So, you've started your game now and after a while at play your starting to grasp the complex physics of automobile racing. For now continue at your own pace. race to your hearts content, work the liscense tests a little bit. Right now the goal is to develope your skills and fortify your intrest in the game. go easy on the upgrade parts and do races a few times before you modify your vehicle. concentrate on making yourself better, not the car. By the time you feel confident in your driving you should have amased a decent amount of cash. so take that to the dealership and lay some of it down on a cheap 4wd car. any of the imprezas and lancers will do. I used the 29,000 credit WRX STi, but the RS lancers are about 4,000 cheaper and probably faster. prepare to be shattered because it's time to go get your rally liscense. dont give up. every time you have to start over know you are getting experience. seat time is the best and perhaps the only way to really get good at racing. And your geting track time on the courses you will be racing on soon. with a car and liscense in hand, (perhaps weeks later) head to the wet races in the rally leauge. Do each of those upgrading your car as necesairy. go with upgrade parts for now. worry about how to tune them later. this is the first time you get to chose your difficulty. you can either equip sports tiers and a few base mods and race it out untill you take the win, (enhanceing your skills) or with the extra cash you have you can make this part easy. although I recomend plan A, as you may find controlling your moded vehicle just as hard as winning with the stock one. once you do those two races, you have two rally cars. an impreza concept, and a citoen exara. keep both of those, and sell your 4wd car if you like. Use the impreza (with no mods) to complete the rally leauge, and after your done, if you sell all the cars you get along the way you should be left with around 1,000,000 credits and a shiny red escudo. take that to the super speedway endurance race. If your lucky you will end up with an F090/s as a prize car, but even if you dont, you still have runner ups like the corvett C5R, tickford falcon XR8 race car and (although to a lesser degree) the Clio sport race car. sell the escudo and what do we have? approxamately 1,700,000 lovely credits, the 4wd impreza rally car, the fwd xsara rally car, and maybe a mid engine F090/s, that beats the pants off an NSX. Otherwise we have a clio sport, also mid engined, or a C5R or ticford falcon. which are both front engine rear drive. There you go my friend. as you may or may not know the drivetrain type races (ff,fr,mr,4wd) are a big part of the game. and you now have cars capable of easily clobering the competition all the way to the pro leauge. have fun.

session 2

And now yet annother money making solution from the caticombs of GT. For your farther ventures into virtual wealth try this on for size.

take whatever car you please to the amature league Gran Turismo World Championship. if you do seven of the ten races you end up earning about 70,000, add the 100,000 dolar series bonus, and the real kicker, a $550,000 toyota GT1 road car, and you come out with about 720,000 credits that took about 45 minutes to amas. if you go all out and do races eight and nine you manage 740,000 in only about twelve minutes more. at this rate you could earn som serious cash in a relativly short amount of time.

Actualy, I use the point and shoot method. I cant type like they teach you to. although I do use both my index and middle fingers, but never in any sort of set motion. Actualy, the second and third posts I copy and pasted. I worked this out along time ago and have posted it on another fourum before. I thought I'd share for anyone who could use it here.

You know I figure I'll get flamed by any and all veterans that pass by here. Session 1 sets beginners up with some pretty sweet cars for the drivetrain specific races from the beginner leauge on up. An F1 car for the MR races! You know, Most of those guys like running cars a class or two below the competition, and I figured I'd get bashed for contributing to the degrading of the GT player by making the game more accessable to players with limited driving skill. you know, I'm not forceing them to develop there skills.

But in my defence, racking up the cash for the 4wd car and then doing the wet races in it does require at least the skill I could muster 2 years ago. so the sweet rides and the cash sort of come as a reward after you've done the hard part.

so thanks for the props.

I was thinking you made it too easy for the beginner. They don't have to read it though. Maybe next time add a title like "contains spoilers"?

As a beginner myself, the only thing I'd point out is that I took awhile getting my licenses and therefore couldn't enter some of the races that you suggest. In retrospect, getting all the licenses first makes sense because you really learn how to drive. On the other hand, once I got the game home, I wanted to race, not go around test tracks. Great read but probably won't work for the true beginner. I'm lucky though, I'm halfway through the Amateur League, so by the time I'm done GT4 will be out, and I won't have to replay GT3.

i thought it was faster to use the vitz to start?
you get access to sunday, clubman, FF, and vitz race, and you can rake in the money on the vitz specific race.

after that i bought a lancer and tuned it enough to win the beginner GT league and a few amateur races.

ahh well. i mean, you're strategy is pretty nice, but there are other ways around...

.. :dopey: ...sure, the trueno is a good car 👍 , but i found the Miata j to handle much better, especially if you re-start a new game and you buy it from your memory card/trade, fully loaded with all the goodies and ....354 hp to help you out!! 💡 :sly:

But you missed the point. In fact I did note that the first gen 1.8 liter miata is a much better car, But between the Vits, trueno, and miata the trueno Is not only the second fastest, but the chepest of the bunch. The idea is to spend as little cash as possibe on that first car and save up for a better one that you can use for the wet races. I though that was pretty clear.

Ok. change of pace. You see, this strategy sort of came naturaly for me. the rally license tests were the ONLY ones I could get gold on way back when I first did them after I got the game. Right when it first came out that is. I had it preordered and everything. I dont even remember how many years it's been. but anyway, this was the way I started the game myself. although i in fact started the game with the Vits and worked towards the WRX with that. So in light of everything you guys have said I've come to the conclusion that this strategy Is best as a way to break out after you've gotten a foot hold in GT3 and developed your skills a bit. followed from the purchase of the 4wd car on out, it's pretty sound. I will modify Session 1

I understand that, but--
With the stock Lancer VI RS at around 26k, you'd have to race the Sunday/Clubman cup around 23 (!!!) times to earn it.

With the Vitz, you earn about 15k running the 5-race championship, and I don't think it requires much tuning.

But like I say, to each his own. I just remember doing your technique when I first tried the game, and man, was I sleepy... =P

Likewise though, the Miata is great but I wouldn't want to slog through an endurance race =P

I wouldn't suggest that new players look for any way to start "right" and get ahead fast. Without having to sit and race a race 30+ times to get enough money to move ahead, the fun is removed. You can never become a veteran unless you do your time in the trenches.

Plus, maybe it's just me but I would feel like I didn't really do any work to complete the game if I followed someone else's beginning strategy...

niec thread... it's what I'm doing (cept with a beautiful blue evo VI T.M.E.... car is pure seks) since I don't really feel like doing the endurance race.. what do you mean by "base mods" i did stage 1 turbo and the sport intercooler with sport tires (like u suggeted) I'm assuming that T2's would crap themselves in wet..

one more thing.. wouldn't you wanna keep the escudo as your 4wd car and go own everything with it? ;P that's all I did in GT2.. started with a skyline then won an RX-7 stage 4 turbo w/racing trans and win the HKS skyline on test course.. sell for 250k do that a few times then buy the escudo and rape almost every race ;P

"base mods" as in things like the exhaust or stage 1 turbo/NA. mods that give you alot of HP for a little cash. the other little mods like the port polish etc. may cost less but they dont give you nearly as much HP.

The escudo in GT3 dosent turn worth sheite. especialy in full 1800 hp tune. although if you want to drive yourself crazy with a car that will spend more time off track than on thats fine with me.

And about not wanting to do that induro. Each lap takes about 20 seconds. trust me it's worth it.

My first time through I just played all normal. Bought a Miata and started chipping away at events.

My second time through I started by beating the Time Trials in Arcade mode and picked up the Panoz Esperante GTR-1 (or whatever it is). Then I took that into Simulation Mode, knocked out all the license tests, and started winning bigger better faster cars. From there it's just a matter of how many races can you do in a day. I think I've gotten nearly 50% complete and not spent a single credit.

i got the miata. then sold it when i won the ls. then tuned that. played apricot hill and won 5000 dollars over and over untill i had enough money to buy a 3000gt. then i tuned it to 1065 hp and bought triple clutch plates, carbon drive shaft, racing flywheel stage 3 lightening and others. so now i got my i-a licence and im ready to kick some serios arse.it only took me 3 days to do all that. also i would never sell my beloved escudo i worked forever to get that baby in gt2... 16 races of red rock valley to get it...i will always keep that also

i suppose i could slap on someslicks and go rape every1 on dry with the evo.. but i want those rally cars you win =[.. inferno about what hp was your subie at when you beat the third race?

inferno about what hp was your subie at when you beat the third race?

Oh dear. It's ben so long since I did this. I wish I could answer your question. However I can tell you that I managed to beat the last race in a Suzuki Alto Works, which has a Power to weight ratio of about 2.7 lb per hp. So shoot for something a bit lower than that for your EVO.

P.s. I noticed you asked about which evo would be best for the wet races. The Evo RS would definately be the best for this scenario. It's not only the cheapest but the lightest as well. and one other thing I was going to say is that since you are limited on grip, dont plan on outpowering this series. you can add all the power you want but the tiers arent going to be able to put it down after a certain point. Go with a few HP upgrades (maybe just a S1 turbo and S3 exhaust), But beyond that a sport suspension and a weight reduction are going to do more for your acceleration than more HP. Not to mention the improment in breaking and cornering performance as well. Your ideal setup is a light weight moderately powered car. That is, ofcourse, what I did to my Subie.

i'll give it 1 more try with the TME now that I have grip.. if I can't then I'll spend some money on the RS..

EDIT:TME handled it with stg 1 turbo sport suspension racing exhaust and S8 tires :D owned the subie by 1sec.. the evo by .5 damn tehy got straightline power.. but passed em both in the twisties on the first lap and they never got to pass ;P
