Former Impéria

Imperia TA-9 BS 1938

Impéria was a Belgian automobile manufactured from 1906 until 1948. Products of the Ateliers Piedboeuf of Liege, the first cars were designed by the German Paul Henze. These were fours of 3, 4.9, and 9.9 liters. The next year, the company moved to Nessonvaux, and began production in the old Pieper factory. Impéria produced a monobloc 12 hp (8.9 kW) in 1909; in 1910 the company merged with Springuel.
The Nessonvaux factory began producing from about 1916; in 1921, it built three ohc 5·6-liter straight-eights. These were quickly replaced by an ephemeral ohc 3-liter 32-valve four which was capable of going 90 mph (140 km/h). This was followed by an 1100 cc side-valve 11/22 hp four designed by Couchard, one of the first cars ever built with a sunroof. Its engine rotated counter-clockwise, and its transmission brake also served as a servo for those on the front wheels. In 1937 a six of 1624 cc appeared; this had been available in three-carburettor Super Sports form from 1930. Over the course of four years Impéria took over three other Belgian car manufacturers: Métallurgique (1927), Excelsior (1929), and Nagant (1931). From 1934 until the company folded it built mainly front-wheel-drive Adlers with Belgian-made coachwork. The company merged with Minerva in 1934, but they split in 1939. After 1948 Impéria assembled Adlers and Standard Vanguards under license. After Standard decided to set up a new factory in Belgium, the factory was left without work and had to close doors in 1957.
In addition to its production in Belgium, Impéria made a number of cars in Great Britain; these were assembled at a factory in Maidenhead.

Their new one appears to be a hybrid. Take that for what it's worth...though kudos for not just shoving an LS-series Chevy in there.

Why an LS chevy engine?

EcoMax option: a Plug-In Diesel Hybrid Imperia! (01/21/2009)

The Imperia Team announces the development of an option pack EcoMax offering an Imperia GP with more batteries and a Diesel engine.
The technical developments on the Escort MK1, the first Imperia Prototype keep moving forward.

Indeed, the vehicle has been on tests for several days on a chassis dynamometer to validate performances. These tests matched our forecasts so we were able to start the hybrid mode yesterday. This step was celebrated as a huge milestone in the development path.

Moreover, in collaboration with the future potential owners of the Imperia GP we carried on a survey regarding options preferences. The results showed a strong interest for the option pack EcoMax meaning to push still further the ecological performances of the Imperia GP.

So the point of that news is to announce officially that following this survey, the Imperia team decided to accelerate, in parallel with the Petrol V4 version, the development of this EcoMax pack. It will propose in option an Imperia GP with more batteries and a Diesel engine. Imperia becomes then the first ever Diesel Plug-in Hybrid sport car of the world! The expected range in full electric for the EcoMax version would then rise to reach more than 70km without exhaust emissions…

We wish you a fantastic new year!

The Imperia Team.
Car doesn't look that bad but it's too expensive.

Piedboeuf

I remember those:

Hope the quality test of the car is before that of the other products.
Great to hear, hope they will make the production numbers to keep all the people from the Opel factory in Antwerp occupied!

I somewhat like this car but there is something I don't like about about this car, if that makes any sense.

What I'm sure of is that I don't like the targa roof. I prefer a solid roof.

First pic reminded me of M-Coupe, and M-Coupe is one of my favorite cars. I love the design overall.

It looks like a cross between a Wiesmann and a Morgan.

Why an LS chevy engine?

Many upstart sports car companies tend to use LS Corvette engines because they are cheap, powerful, and reliable.

Well it seems Belgium is making a comeback! First we saw the Belgians unite in the GTP World Map, and now this!

What do you mean?

He meant that this car is like a Belgian version of a Morgan, so you must be either too fool or filled with sheer nationalism to choose the Imperia.

I won't agree, since I didn't see much of the car(Ignore, I saw the other pics, it does look good), but it indeed has some classic styling cues from what I can see in the pic you provided kikie, Morgans are all about tradition, so they're might be fighting for the same market segment.

I love the design! Good to hear something from the Belgian manufacturers again!

However, the Gillet Vertigo will always remain one of my personal favorite cars. Not only because I'm Belgian, but I do honestly think it was a fantastic looking thing 👍

The Morgan looks better indeed. But I don't like the front end of the Morgan. The front end of the Imperia is better looking. The interior of the Imperia is better looking and looks more comfortable but that's about it. The Imperia looks so ...... 'short'. And I don't like that name. Im-pe-ria.

But I would still prefer the Wiesmann over the Morgan. The only thing that I really like about the Imperia is the interior and the hybrid engine.

I'm definitely NOT a nationalist. If fact, Belgium is :grumpy: :ouch:. No further comment.

Too dumb/Belgian to buy a Morgan? Boy do I have a car to sell you!
Now I get it. :p: I was confused with the "too". I read as "to".
