Well, sure we all like the underdog little guy... But there is a point when such slower cars just cant be safely on the track with the faster cars. They didnt want to see a Ferrari come up on one of these cars thats 15 seconds slower and simply run into it like MS did in china in 05.

They may do away with this 48 million bond in a few years though so you may see more teams... I dunno.

Didn't David Richards want to start up his own team?

In 2008, along with everything else that stops privateers from being competitive in Formula 1. It’s funny that Formula 1 is doing a complete U-turn on policies, once again.

A stupid idea yes, but why can't they have some kind of class in which priviteers can run, in their own championship, and then the main teams can have their own as well? It sucks i know but it could be interesting

Oh, very bad news. Spa is the best circuit on the F1 racing calander, well, was the best. :indiff:

I don't know about Spa being the best circuit. It's not bad. I was there last summer and I must admit, it is really impressive. It was....I don't have the right words for it. I live very close to Zolder (which is a nice track) but it is nothing compared to Spa.

Au rouge is possibly the best corner on the F1 calendar. :dopey:

Yep, I was surprised how steep Eau rouge really is, when I saw it for the very first time irl.

Fuji would be good. 👍
Ironically, the re-design of Fuji was done by none other than Tilke.

Why can't we get rid of a rubbish track, like Hungray? Suzuka's being replaced by a concrete field - sorry, Fuji, Silverstone's hanging on by a thread, and Monaco has to practically redesign the track each year... watch out Monza. All so they can be replaced with bland, boring tracks that line the pockets of the corperations.
Fire Mosely, fire Ecclestone and fire Tilke. Then scratch the F1 calendar entirely and start again.

Do you race?
...scratch the F1 calendar entirely and start again.
...and pay off the dets the Walloon province made before getting Spa back on the calender??? Won't happen.

1/2 OT: I bet Hockenheim also will be out "soon".

1. The Hockenheim Ring GmbH (GmbH = German version of the English Limited) is almost insolvent. Athough they redesigned the track for more advertising space so Bernie extended the contract, it did not help very much. The GmbH wants a contingent liability, but the state of Baden-Württemberg refuses to give any more money. No money, no F1. The chances the GP will take place in July are currently 50/50.
2. There are currently two German GP´s (Hockenheim and Nurburgring). They will drop one sooner or later. If they do, it will be Hockenheim. I bet Bernie will not extend the contract again.

Do you race?
I said it was a solution, I didn't say it was a practical one.
Yes you were right!! (sorry if you misunderstood, it wasn't my intention to say that you're wrong) I agree. It could be a solution but unfortunately not for Spa :(

It seems to me like they're really screwing F1. Back a couple years ago, say 1996 or 1997, I thought there were only a few really good tracks left in F1. Those were:

Monza
Spa-Francorchamps
Hockenheim
Interlagos
& Monaco

Nowadays, they've really screwed Hockenheim up IMO. It used to be my favorite track. After they did that, I settled on Spa as my favorite track of the F1 calendar. And now no more Spa?? Jeez..

At least we still have the Gilles Villeneuve track in Canada, Silverstone, Imola, and the rest are still around like Monza and Monaco and Interlagos.

However soem of the tracks just seem plain bad. I don't have anything against Hungaroring, but the race there in 2005 was just completely boring. So was China, Malaysia and Bahrain.

Oh, sorry, misinterpreted what you said.

Anyway, impractical solutions are foten the best ones. Fire the lot of them, I say, and put a few people from GTP in their place.

I've been looking for confirmation of this. I can't find anything on Belgium being off on Autosport.com, F1.com or FIA.com. Has this definitely been decided?

Also, a note on the $48m bond. This is not a "price of entry". The bond is returned to the team that lodged it, progressively over the first year of that team's entry. It is meant as a test, to see if a team can raise sufficient funds - the idea being that $48m is a reasonable sum with which to run an F1 team. Regulation 44 states thus:
FIA Sporting Regulations
44) With the exception of those whose cars have scored points in the Championship of the previous year, applicants must supply information about the size of their company, their financial position and their ability to meet their prescribed obligations. Any applicant which did not take part in the Championship for the previous year must also deposit US$48,000,000 (forty-eight million United States dollars) with the FIA when submitting its application. This sum will be returned to it forthwith if its application is refused or in twelve equal monthly instalments (including interest) commencing immediately after the first Event in which it competes, provided it has met and continues to meet all the requirements of the Agreement and its schedules. If the applicant fails to appear for the Championship for which it has entered, its deposit will be forfeit save only that the applicant may delay its participation by one year, in which case US$12,000,000 (twelve million United States dollars) will be forfeit and the balance repaid as set out above.

This has not been officially announced, however it seems unlikely that the event will go ahead. Link.

This is funny. They said (Belgian news (flemish part)) a couple of days ago that there isn't simply enough money to finish the "upgrades". The international press is talking about,"not enough time", hehe, unbelievable. Being Belgian and knowing what these Wallonian politicians are capable of, I believe the story of "not enough money" instead of "not enough time". But I could be wrong. Either way, it's unlikely Spa is on the F1 calender. (There's still hope).
