It appears that automotive design house Bertone will be closing their doors.

The article explains that unpaid costs to suppliers and employees being unpaid for 6 months make up much of the reason for the downfall.

Currently it is unknown if Bertone will release their VGT before it goes under, but its very possible that the Bertone VGT may be the last Bertone design ever.

Ex-chief designer Michael Robinson explains that while the company is going under, he is now half owner of a design house called ED Design, which has existed for 3 1/2 months.

Bertone is responsible for many of the world's most famous automobile designs, such as the Lamborghini Miura, Countach and Diablo, Alfa Romeo GTA, Lancia Stratos, Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, and my personal favorite, the Iso Grifo.

Yeah those rumours already existed in December so it is not a huge surprise. I doubt we will see the Bertone VGT*.

* This statement includes but is not limited to the Bertone VGT.

Had the same feeling. I think the automakers were originally gung-ho about it but not so much now.

Bertone do some great designs, i can remember the old Jaguar design of the future that they mocked up, was very XJ style.

Sad day for motor design if this happens. Bertone have made some of the most eye catching and revolutionary car designs. Especially those by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Marcello Gandini, and wearing the Lamborghini, Maserati and Lancia badges.

Yeah that definitely sucks about the group. As for the VGT, well, that's the least of our worries at the moment.

Bertone basically stopped existing as it used to be in 2009 anyway when it actually emerged from the bankruptcy the article mentions. Fiat bought all of the manufacturing capability and repurposed it to build the European Chryslers. It's been on life support ever since then, since there really isn't much for an independent design house to do anymore. Zagato has been extremely lucky in that regard. Even Peninfarina has been flushing money down the toilet for most of the previous decade.

It's been 3 months, we've had one VGT car, then the same VGT car with some colourful lines on it. Even with Bertone I can't imagine seeing their VGT car in my life-time.

Bertone isn't really the same Bertone from old, I'm sure we'll see the name re-appear again in 10 years.

As for the VGT, I can't see any real reason for it not being in the game because of this (not that I care about VGT lol)

I`ll add Bertone to the list of VGT cars we WONT be seeing ;)
