i'm not sure if its the best performance wise but the 84 sylvia sounds awesome, tunes up nicely and its cheap.... if you can find it of course :)

The "best" car is all on your personal driving style and what you plan to do with it. E.g drive it stock or tune it.

Also most cars that are the "best" in that year would be standard cars.

This series of race is pretty easy...I used a Fairlady Z from the premium dealership, no modifications, comfort soft tires, a good challenge. You won't need to spend that much, and reward are about 80-85k each race so..

I'll second the MR2, the MR drivetrain setup fits my driving style well. I used it for the 80's Japanese Trial, golded the kart track, Tsukuba, and Cape Ring, with 4th on Tokyo and 2nd on Clubman 5. Did an oil change, engine/chassis overhaul, sports hards, fixed suspension kit, single plate clutch, sports exhaust, and sports air filter.

Additionally, the car is also good for the time trial. I used a different MR2 of mine and got the weight as low as it would go, tuned it to 197hp per regulations, and strapped on a spoiler and every drivetrain, suspension, and transmission part. Best I could mange was an 1:18.545 after aboit 40 minutes of continuous laps. You might be able to mange better though!

Bummer that my E30 isn't in the game. Maybe they will add it at some point

I found the japanese 80's Seasonals easy with the Nissan zeater fully tuned.handles well and does not have too much over steer, but has enough to have fun with in the corners.

Another vote for the Toyota MR2, the Toyota Supra from the dealership is a great car also... You don't need the Minolta for the seasonals and you have to detune it because the PP is too high....

My MR2 isn't even fully tuned, at about 225hp and stage 2 weight reduction, it runs sub 8 min Ring laps on sports softs and a standard gearbox which costs a lot. FULLY modded it should do a 7.30 easy. Feels like a go-kart as well.

At the opposite end of the feel scale, the 83 Z33 is awesome on comfort softs and completely standard tuning. Lovely driving feel.

The 'best' one for me was the Honda Mugen race car 87'. but if your buying one for the seasonal event, the Honda is a bit of an easy win.

R89C? 88CV?
Lol they can't qualify the race but they will be the best.
In fact the Mugen Civic is a bit of a handful to drive sometimes --- when it had 295PS power the front wheelspin brings understeer, I may have to tweak the LSD though.

I treated my self to a premium Supra 3.0 Turbo, I can remember picking one of these up as my firts car in GT2 or GT3. It doesn't need any tuning, sits at about 400 PP as stock and can be persuaded to drift around hairpins with a bit of handbrake.

After I finished the seasonals, I tuned it up to something like 550 BHP, it's a decent drift machine.
