Best and worst tracks in racing games?

Just out of interest, why such universal dislike for Cape Ring? I like it, and remember being excited when I saw an early video of it in the rain. The jump isn't *that* silly, surely? There are jumps that big on some rally stages, and it's one little feature of a big track. The only feature I dislike is how slow the AI cars drive around the "spiral", but it's not a biggie.

It's just too far fetched, from a developer that makes good fictional tracks like apricot, deep forest, grand valley and midfield. The non loop layouts of cape are okay, but for me the kerbs are terrible all round the track.

My least favorite track I've driven on is probably the Fuji mod for rFactor 2, the one used in VEC. The curbs are massive and the corners are all wrong.

My favorite tracks are all car dependent. For instance, I love Watkins Glen in any historic or production based car, but I think it's far too rough for more modern cars. In the same vain, I love modern Spa in modern race cars, but in any historic or production based cars I hate it.

Best Fictional Tracks

El Capitan GT4
New York FM1
Alpine Ring FM1
Deep Forest GT3/4
Special Stage Route 11 GT3 (never drove the GT1 version :/)
Dinosaur Canyon Daytona USA lmao
Challenge Track Daytona USA 2

as for real world tracks, i know that Catalunya appears to feel the same in all the racing games i've played it in (Forza, THQ MotoGP, Milestone MotoGP,Le Mans)

Nurburgring feels different in every game i've played it in (GT4/5 FM 1-5 (Forza has some weird Nurburgrings, but they nailed in 5 though)

Suzuka seems to feel different in every game i've played it in (GT4/5 FM 2-4, Le Mans, R Racing, Namco MotoGP)

honestly can't say which is my worst real world track since they differ between games.

Meanwhile, I remember one of the late-game stages in Colin McRae Rally 2.0 where the road was two muddy wheel tracks through paddocks. The stage was run at night after a series of tough stages, so it was absolutely terrifying when you had to aim for the narrow gaps in the stone walls separating each paddock while driving over a hundred kilometres per hour with flickering headlights.

While on the subject of narrow tracks, I always found Mobil 1 Rally Championship on PS1 to have better track design than the CMR series. It's all narrow and almost every track is unique (before factoring in variable weather and time of day as well). It has heaps of lesser known kit cars in addition to the usual WRC cars as well. Shame it's not as well known.

I dislike half of the original tracks from the Forza series, I don't even remember their names, they're short, simple and generic.
