Best car for 500 and 550pp?

Well, too much grip with these tyres. For example, you can brake very late for mulsanne kink, but if you do, its easy to get a tankslapper and loose the car completely, wheres the DOME is easir to get pointed in the right direction, but has so much less grip you have to brake so much sooner with it.

You say its predictible, thats because you're not pushing it to its full potential.

Yep right I dont push it and you are a god and you push it to its full potential...
I only made one quick lap for each car and those were nowhere near good. I could spend running 1 hour for each car, but I have better things to do.

Not as fast as some, but easy to drive and very forgiving you can just throw it at corners let it slide and tidy it all up later..
 
500pp:
Street - Mazda RX8 type S (300+ hp on 1000 kg car)
Race - VW Scirocco N24 (not bad for a FF)

550pp:
Street - McLaren MP4-12C (feels like the NSX type R in GT5)
Race - Mazda RX7 GT300 (so much grip!)

With both cars I had my own setup only to make the car suit my driving style, I never use any of those amazing setups that you can find out there made by tuners.

For anyone new to the thread: @TRL_Andromeda was 3 seconds faster than @NixxxoN using the Dome Zero, in the contrived scenario NixxoN puts forward.

That's about 0.85 seconds per minute faster than the guy with "lots of experience".

It must be beginner's luck to get all those top 10 finishes in Seasonal Events...
 
I honestly agree with @TRL_Andromeda here as he's a guy I know who can really push a car near or around its limits so I can support his testing results.


As for my own list, which is on page 1, I only included what the community defines as a street car. If I just said any car goes, then totally I would've said the GSX-R/4 demolishes everything at 500pp and under, unless it's Sarthe of course. :p

My experience says that the NSXR'92-'94 is faster than the '02. The 02 has inflated PP and an understeer that the standard models don't have.

That explains a lot. I'll have to buy a '92-'94 and see if the under steer can be tuned out. Thanks.
 
Twist... as Aussies, I run a class that's 550pp - V8 - 4 Door - RM Tyres - Wing on the back.
Idea is that we have something approaching V8 super cars. What we ended up with is a bunch of cars that are compromised in some way or other, be it speed, handling (always handling) or as is the S6 god awful to look at with a wing.

It's made for some excellent racing though to be honest!

I never said Andromeda wasnt good. I just said that I didnt even try or bother to try, as I dont with seasonal events. I did one lap for both cars and they were not good laps, but since they were similarly average I thought it was accurate enough for comparison. I do not think its worth to spend hours on trying to make a great laptime in seasonals, I much prefer to spend this time on doing online races, I have 100 times more fun.
In fact I usually dont do seasonals anymore, now that I got all the cars and plenty of money that I dont know how to spend it.
I used to finish quite high around top 100 when I really tried in seasonals, and spending some hours trying to improve. But yeah, its worth it wasting so much time in this? For my part it isnt.

NSXR 02 has understeer? Really? Perhaps you should start by removing that awkward default setup of toe and camber.

The '02 NSX Type R is the fastest non-racecar version of the NSX in the game.

At Mid-Field on Comfort Softs, no tuning or mods or oil change:

1:20.806 - 468 - Honda NSX Type R '02
1:21.549 - 463 - Honda NSX Type R '92

It is close, but the '02 is definitely faster. I might try this same test at Tsukuba and see what happens.

As this is something I do, I thought I'd share my thoughts. :)

Going for top times in the seasonals has put me at the level I'm at today. I've learned so much in this game just by grinding the time trials, ever since January 2012 in GT5. How to tune, how to drive particular tracks correctly, how to drive fast. Period.

It's honestly a great way to learn the limits of how this game plays.

Also the results stay on the Gran Turismo website anyways. ;)

Ah, didn't know that. That alone makes it worthwhile. I suck at tuning and don't like ripping off other peoples' tunes, but I do enjoy the drifting events. I wish there were more seasonals involving stock cars, with no tuning allowed.
 
I tested both NSX Type R's at Tsukuba on Sport Hard tires and this was the result:

1:01.426 - 468 - Honda NSX Type R '02
1:02.248 - 463 - Honda NSX Type R '92

Difference of 0.822 seconds. The '02 has 6 more horses, 11 more ft-lbs of torque, and weighs 40 kg more than the '92. I used a DS3. A wheel should be able to do about a second faster, maybe more if you cheat and go into the grass a bit.

Subaru BRZ R&D Sport '12 is a good 500 pp choice.

Subaru Impreza Super Touring Car is good at 550 pp as well.

I just did a 6:42 around nordschleife in a Toyota Altezza RS200 tuned to 500pp on RS no aids except for ABS1. With my driving skill very few cars come near that time at 500pp so if you're looking for an edge that one is a good bet. It's tail happy but quite fast around the bends and on the straights. All around a very good ring car.
For 550pp I use the 458 Italia, it may not be the fastest at those performance points, but I like the way it handles.
