Best car for 650PP Races (In my opinion)

Tested the Xanavi nismo GT-R '08 tuned to 650pp on racing soft, so far with minor errors i got 5:56, got slowed down slightly by the XJ220 race car... and missed some apex later.. didnt know that car was that fun to drive! :dopey:

I will try the ZR1 RM when i have some time, want to test the xanavi again and then the Peugeot 905 '92. :)

the stock ZR1 on racing soft did 6:31.897
 
First I thought it was the McLaren F1 (5'49.1 after a couple of laps); since then I've also tried the R89C (5'47.477), Bentley Speed 8 (5'46.623)... but now the Audi R8 '01 LMP is, by far, the fastest I've tested (5'44.745 on 3rd lap). But maybe it's just the practice, and also I found if you're going for a lap time, you probably want the AI set with the McLaren F1 and the Zonda LM.

The McLaren F1 GTR Race Car(Just got it today) is like beyond fast and it turns corners like rubbing butter on bread(that's a good thing).

but the only other car(s) that may give it trouble is the GT by Citroën Prototype & Race Car.

Are there any other cars that are just as good the McLaren?

Yeah I like the mclaren f1 GTR race car too. I use it for the 650pp events.

The BMW Maclaren gets the best times for me and is easiest to drive, but for fun and a bit more of a challenge I love Ferrari P4 I paid 20 mill for it so I'm gonna use it.

How about a Minolta Toyota 88c Race Car? ya just wind down the power limiter in the settings so that it becomes 650pp. yes its kind of cheating but it sure does beat a Mclaren F1...
 
The Zonda LM car also works quite good, it does have some problems passing theFord GT LM test car in B-spec tho
 
R35 TC is the workhorse for me, but only because i dont care how many k's i rack up in it. Better to race this car to death than a rare used dealership one.

Every 10th race or so (i'm grinding my arse off going round the ring) i might use something special like one the Oreca Viper's or the GT LM test cars (either the white or black one) just to make it interesting.

The fastest opponent is the fina mclaren for sure, and on average it will clock laps round the high 6.20's (6.27-6.29). So really any car that can do better than 6.20 is more than quick enough. AND if you don't race the mclaren then it's not even a contest....

I used to like the Chaparral 2J just for its "freakiness" value alone ion the earlier games of GT, but as I got better and GT5 became like cocaine I detest the 2J it's for noobs in my honest opinion. It has a fan which gives an obvious downforce advantage regardless of speed, not very sporting hence why it got barred from international racing in the first place lol. I noticed the first "real man" on the leader board was racing a Takata Dome NSX from '03 and still in the low 6.1-.XX Respect!

Now if you're talking about the Chaparral 2D I'll have 10 please - an understated masterpiece that show's up in the OCD as often as a VanGogh on Ebay. worth every penny but not available to buy wtf?

You have to wait patiently to see it in the OCD or UCD or borrow from a friend or win it dude. You can't buy the cars anymore like you could in previous games.
 
I think I have 2 Chaparral 2Ds.
 
i have a 2J set to share with friends permanently, add me and you can borrow it indefinitely

Why has nobody mentioned, or maybe tried the Mazda Furai concept? I have the McLaren GTR, Zonda R, 2J, and pretty much everything else that everyone's mentioned (except the P4), but I get better times with the Furai! Such a lightweight car it flies round every track.

Only tuning I do is: Full aerodynamics front and back, power limited to about 427BHP (650pp) - transmission max speed around 200mph. (Sometimes up to 210 for the straight on Nurburgring)
 
The Fairlady Z Concept LM Race Car also deserves a shout. Fantastic car, it's like it's on rails. I've also used both the Zonda LM and Zonda R for these events. I think I also won the Ring event in a Lexus IS-F Racing Concept.

I'm gonna try different touring/super-gt cars next I think, then tuned road cars like the Enzo, and the 458.
 
I use the Ford GT LM Spec II always & get an easy 1st place.

I tried all the Ferrari's on the ring 650 race...got first with the old race car and the Enzo, then 2 or 3rd with several of the others...it's real real hard

+1 - As much as I like my 2J, and a few others, I love my Minolta, it was the first one that came up, and its got me through many 650s, and I think a 700 or two as well (detuned/turboed respectively).

But gee, is it actually faster than a 2J? Never tested it myself.

I'm using the Minolta Toyota and have to detune the engine to 50% to qualify.
 
I'd like to change mine to the RX-7 LM Race Car because I've been winning Season races with cars that are like best 650 racers but i just beat cars that have like 735pp in the Dream car event.
