I know what you mean, the rewards were given out too generously, and thus lost the rewarding feeling.

Blame the masses, who said GT was too hard, and not rewarding enough, for they sought only recompense in Cr. and Prize Cars, rather than from the challenge of racing.

i remember when i first got GT3 as a wee little *****r age 10 within a few weeks of it coming out when i got my ps2
i freaking loved it, and it was hard, mainly because i had no idea on how to race. but i loved the working my butt of just to get one car. i remember when i first laid eyes on the Opel Speedster, and i wanted it bad. took me a good week of non-stop hardcore grinding, but i did it, and it was awesome! i really liked that in GT4 too, the grinding to get a step further in the game.
with GT5, some things came all to easy, i by the time i had some race cars and super cars, i felt like something was missing, like it was too easy and not challenging enough to get them. i do the seasonals purely for the experience, and nothing more. the money i use on buying cars i really really want (usually rarer ones from the USD) or i use the money of re-buying a car i already have and give it a paint job, fully mod, and tune it, just for the added fun
but i do feel part of the magic has since left

Except for the Sebastian Vettel X1 Challenge that too hard

They made it easier a long time ago, not that tough anymore once you get used to the sheer speed. It's still tough to get gold but you don't need to.

I'm not sure if it was GT3 or GT4, but I remember trying to not buy a car, just using the ones won from licenses. The first one I got was so pitiful that after hours of trying I still could not win a single Sunday Cup race with it! I don't remember anymore whether I bought one or won a better one.

In GT5 I started with a premium '89 Miata, served me well. But to gift to someone, who knows? Any of 100 half decent sports/performance cars will own the early events while being tame enough to be easy to drive, and with a little tuning can win some seasonals. From there it's an hour or three to a 908.

Unfortunately with the way the seasonal events now throw money at you the starting game has been completely wiped out, my main fun in GT's has always been choosing the original banger and racing for a few credits to afford a basic upgrade and working my way through the league, now with the seasonals you can enter a couple of races then go buy a full blown race car.

I Second that.

When i started playing GT5 there was already seasonal events so i made money really fast and had almost 20 super cars on the first day.
Then i got bored that i decided to start a new profile where i'd just play the game, without going online....
So i started with a Yaris, worked hard winning the events and saving my money for an RX8, that later on lead me to winning a Maserati GranTurismo which wasn't so bad....
But however that's the fun of the game, start with a crap car and 'grow up' on the leagues. Not just do a 5 laps race and be gifted with 200k on the first day.
